1 WHAT DOES A BIOMEDICAL TECHNICIAN DO?
Examples of work for the Biomedical Technician

2 BMET A Biomedical Technician, or BMET, is technical equipment specialist trained to maintain instruments and biomedical equipment used in hospitals, laboratories, and other clinical areas. The BMET performs troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of a wide variety of medical instruments and equipment. Examples of the possible job duties of a BMET include:

3 SPECIALIZATION repair of medical-electronic, patient-monitoring equipment;  specialized maintenance of diagnostic X-ray and imaging equipment;  specialized maintenance of clinical pathology instruments and systems;  testing of hospital equipment for safety and performance; 

4 TRAINING AND SUPPORT training and education of clinical and medical personnel in the proper use and safety of medical equipment; evaluation and testing of new high-tech equipment for hospital use;  support of medical personnel in the operating room or during diagnostic or therapeutic patient treatment; repair of microcomputers used in various hospital departments;

5 NON HOSPITAL WORK maintenance of hospital TV, video, telemetry, and communications systems; field service work for a medical equipment manufacturer;  repair of medical equipment for a shared-services organization. Background checks and drug screenings are required for this program.

A STREAK OF PERFECTION WITH A GREAT DEAL OF FLEXIBILITY. THE ABILITY TO DO HANDS ON WORK WITH THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY WITH OTHERS THROUGH ORAL AND DOCUMENTATION VENUES.
