Rule Changes New Rules POE Hudl Working Together Coaches Questions

14 accomplishments 1. Coaches
Please to see the WMOA is actively seeking a more open dialog between coaches and officials. Aware that both coaches and officials are critical to the sport of basketball and that our main reason for doing what we do are the student/athletes who play the game. Pleased to have a direct line of communication regarding rule interpretations and rule knowledge. (Rule Book & Case Book accessibility through the WMOA Basketball Chair) Showed specific interest in Rule 9-1-3h and its potential cause and effect scenarios.

15 2016-17 points of emphasis Acknowledge and Granting Time-outs Criteria
Must have knowledge of status of ball prior to granting time-out. Control by player Technical Fouls Administrative and Team Technical Fouls Head coach does not lose the coaching box on these two types of technical fouls Replacing a Disqualified or Injured Player 15 Second horn sounds when officials instructs timer Protecting the Free-Thrower Delayed whistle on violation and if contact is made on shooter foul Post Play Arm bars, elbows, use of leg or knee or backing down (offense or defense)

16 Review The importance of communication: Before, During and After the Game Pre-game Eye Contact / Body Language / Mechanics Post-game: What was done right / What can (I/we) improve on / Positive Reinforcement for next game POE’s: Read Them, Understand Them, Work Them

17 Suggestions from the floor
When missing a rotation,  suggestions on How to recognize that you missed your rotation; and/or suggestions on How not to miss your rotation.  My suggested topics would be displacement and crew (within) communication. I feel that the displacement part of basketball does not get addressed enough AND there is a group of US (we know who we are) that turn a blind eye to this important (huge) part of the sport. Crew communication to me is PARAMOUNT! I have worked with some very good officials over the last several years where we have a great pre-game in the locker room then go out and work flawlessly together. Then I have worked with some where we do the same thing and there is no flawless, but a lot of other!!Anyway, those would be my suggestions for the membership. I have more, but it's nice to hear from someone else with what they have.
