1 Coach Cindy Hook leads the girls to the field before winning against the Lee Lancers. "Helping our girls have fun while they work hard and learn to play as a rock solid team is why I love coaching," Hook said. "It is very rewarding to see the great progress that can be made each season as we learn so many life lessons."

2 Sophomore Garrett Meadows takes a water break during a difficult practice. "Drinking water is really important for me to stay energized," Meadows said.

3 Junior Sarah Hawkins takes a dive towards the ground, great ready to keep incoming ball out of the goal. "It is really fun to have people shoot ok me during drills like rapid fire and 1v1s," Hawkins said. "Practice is really important for developing my skills and it allows the team to work on and fix problems we may have in games."

4 Senior Elizabeth Corcoran stretches before going on a run
Senior Elizabeth Corcoran stretches before going on a run. "For me, stretching helps prevent injury," Corcoran said. "It loosens my muscles so I'm less likely to tear something, and it also improves my flexibility."

5 Senior Charlotte Getsey stretches during practice due to a hip injury, preventing her from playing. "It's really hard having an injury and watching everyone else play, knowing that I can't," Getsey said. "I try to do whatever I physically can to stay in shape. I also try to work on my individual stick work so that when I come back, I'll have improved."

6 Sophomore Amy Chavez flies high as she is lifted by her teammates
Sophomore Amy Chavez flies high as she is lifted by her teammates. "I love cheer because we lift each other up; both mentally and physically," Chavez said. "Practicing is important to me because perfecting something in cheer is so critical to succeeding in team competitions."

7 Freshman Elizabeth Ortiz steals the ball and takes it down the field
Freshman Elizabeth Ortiz steals the ball and takes it down the field. "Field hockey is a great way to stay active and have fun at the same time," Ortiz said. "In practice, we're like a big family, but also it's important to focus on getting better by working on our stick skills and improve any way we can.."

8 Senior David Moore and sophomore Joe Gaston battle it out during practice, perfecting their blocking techniques. "Practices are chill, but when coach gets mad is when it becomes difficult, but it's all to help us refine our skills," Moore said.

9 Senior captain Sapphire Rush and her cheer team perform the routine for their upcoming competition. "Practicing is essential in cheer because memory is key!" Rush said. "We have to rehearse placing, motions, stunts, jumps, timing, and more. We all need each other in order to do well."

10 Coach Christopher Bagot orders his players to get ready on the line
Coach Christopher Bagot orders his players to get ready on the line. "I love coaching football and working with student athletes because of the challenges that come in games and practices. I love the strategy and battle of wills and philosophies that football provides. I love coaching high schoolers in particular because this is the time everyone is taking it seriously," Bagot said. "Coaching allows me to make a great impact on people's lives. I had great coaches that gave me a great high school experience, so I hope to do the same."

11 Senior Beca Kindling reaches into a deep stretch after a long cross country workout. "I practice everyday so I build up speed to run a fast 5k," Kindling said. Training daily helps my body get stronger, but afterwards it's vital for me to stretch so that I don't pull any muscles."

12 Senior Alichia House puts some pep in her step as she bends down to perform the next step of her cheer routine. "I like doing stunts because they are difficult, but also the most fun because it's very satisfying when I hit a stunt cleanly," House said.

13 Senior McKenzie Yi pauses to gather recuperate during a water break
Senior McKenzie Yi pauses to gather recuperate during a water break. "Practicing is very important, it is the time to push yourself and try new skills to use in games," Yi said. "You can never get better without practice and you can't improve with only half an effort."

14 Several players on the football team work together to push the heavy sled and their coach across the field. "We keep each other focused even when it's hot out or it's raining and we just want to go home. We fight through it together, as one team, one family," senior Wilfredo Zelaya said. "We make the best of each practice, try our hardest, and give each other confidence for Friday night's game."
