Jim Sandham Ft. Worth Botanic Garden -- Japanese Garden May 2005
I thought I’d share some images from my 2005 visit to the Ft. Worth Botanic Garden, focusing on it’s Japanese Garden.
12
The main gate.
13
Turn right to begin the tour, which ends up at the gift shop.
14
This looks like a small bonsai tree, but it’s about 15 feet tall.
15
Every proper Japanese Garden has an arched bridge.
16
Close-up of pine needles.
17
This is the large pond that winds throughout the garden.
18
You know these monkeys, don’t you?
19
The view looking back from the arched bridge.
20
The red maple tree is this color all year.
21
That’s my son Mike coming down the stairs from an elevated viewing platform.
22
Another part of the pond.
23
The upper pond area where the Gift Shop is located.
24
Welcome to the Gift Shop
Welcome to the Gift Shop! It was built over water, and is guarded by a ferocious fisherman…….
25
…..and here he is….a beautiful Great Blue Heron.
26
Even the bird houses were Japanese architecture!
27
As we headed to our car we walked through this rock garden with water and flowers.
