1 From Prototype to Production with Eagle PCB Design
Workshop 6 Manufacturing File Generation Layout of a single-channel CheerLights Wi-Fi controller Robert Mawrey

2 Manufacturing files are defined in layers – i.e.
Outline Top Copper Bottom Copper Top Silkscreen Etc.

3 Gerber and Drill Formats
The standard file types for PCB manufacturing are Gerber RS-274X for PCB layers, and Excellon for holes Eagle creates Gerber and Excellon files directly using the CAM Processor

4 Eagle CAM files from manufacturers
Many PCB manufacturers create CAM files for Eagle that define the naming convention preferred by the manufacturer For example, the Chinese manufacturer Seeed provides an Eagle cam file for two-layer PCBs called Seeed_Gerber_Generater_2-layer.cam We will now follow the steps to generate manufacturing files in Eagle using Seeed format as an example

5 Load the latest Eagle board and schematic
Download the latest files from Github as a zip: FiCheerLightsController Open the board and schematic Open the CAM processor in Eagle and load the file (job) called Seeed_Gerber_Generator_2- layer.cam File>CAM Processor…>File>Open>Job><The Seed file>

6 Generate the Gerber and Drill files
Click Process Job Eagle will generate the following files in your folder:

7 Upload the files to Seeed and view them
Zip the files in your folder Visit Seeed at usion_pcb.html Upload your zipped files
