The Main tab This tab contains basic Dr.Web CureIt! settings. Let's discuss them in more detail. Use sound alerts — play sounds upon certain events. Automatically apply actions to threats — the utility will automatically use settings in the actions tab to apply actions to detected threats. Turn off computer after scanning will make the utility shut down the computer when the scanning os completed. Interrupt scanning when switching to battery mode – since the scanning process utilizes a lot of system resources you can use this option to prolong the battery life of your laptop. The Protect Dr.Web CureIt! operation option enables self-defence that prevents removal or termination of the utility files, running processes and related registry branches fby malware. The Block network access option is used to prevent reinfection of the machine via network during scanning and ensure that worms do not spread from the computer to other hosts. Prevent applications from writing to disc using low-level functions disables per-sector data writing and prevents bootkits and Windows blockers from compromising boot sectors.
20
Actions tab Once scanning is over, Dr.Web CureIt! merely notifies the user about detected threats and offers to apply actions to neutralize them. These actions are selected automatically according to settings found in this tab. The most adequate response to curable threats (infected files) is curing which restores a file to the state prior to the infection. Threats of other types should be moved to the quarantine to prevent an accidental deletion of valuable information. You can specify the following actions Cure - restore the state of an object prior to its infection. If the virus can not be cured or a curing attempt has not been successful, it will apply an action set for incurable objects. This action is only available for objects infected with known curable viruses except for Trojans and files contained in other objects (archives, s and file containers). Trojan horses are deleted upon detection. It is the the only action available for boot sectors. Move to quarantine – isolate an object in a special folder. By default the quarantine is a hidden folder that can be accessed only upon completion of the scanning. No actions will be performed with boot sectors.
21
Actions tab Delete – remove the object. No actions will be performed with boot sectors.
22
Actions tab Ignore – do not do anything to the object and display no information about it in the report. This actions is only available for malware, riskware and hack-tools.
