broken (adj) Define: When something is broken it is damaged or in pieces. Example: The doctor put a cast on my broken arm. Ask: Have you ever had a broken bone?

serious (adj) Define: Something that is important. Example: A broken arm is a serious injury. Ask: Can you name another serious injury?

heal (v) Define: When something heals, it gets healthy, or better. Example: It will take six weeks for my broken arm to heal. Ask: What is another word that means the same thing as heal?

personal (adj) Define: Something that is personal has to do with you. Example: Polly’s personal things belong to only her. Ask: What personal school supplies do you keep in your desk?

informs (v) Define: When someone informs you, he or she tells you something. Example: The doctor informs me I have a broken arm. Ask: Who informs you about the rules you must follow at school?

pay-paid (verb) Define: To give someone money for something. Example: Will you pay for dinner? I paid for dinner last night! Ask: When do you pay for things? What did you buy?

X-ray (noun) Define: An X-ray is a picture that helps you see inside something. Example: The doctor used an X-ray to see if my arm was broken. Ask: Have you ever had an X-ray?

Add –es to form the plural of singular nouns that end in s, sh, ch, or x. To form the plural of nouns ending in a consonant +y, change y to i and add –es. Some nouns change their spelling to name more than one. buses bus box boxes candy candies
