They are Opaque finishes- they can not be seen through

7. Paints vs. Enamels Paints are available in different finishes:
Flat- no shine
Satin- soft luster
Semi-gloss- little shine
Gloss- shiny
Gloss- refers to the amount of surface brightness

8. Enamels- high-gloss that are provide slick, hard surfaces and easy to clean
Both can come as brush-on or aerosol finishes
(- we will use brush-on finish)

9. Preparing the Surface for Painting
Fill any dents or gouges
Complete Final sanding
Apply primer- undercoat (if necessary)

Wash brush when finished
Cover paint

Make sure surface is dust free
Stir the paint
Dip 1/3 of the bristle into the paint
Wipe the brush against the side of the container
Brush should be filled but not dripping with paint
Use long, even brush strokes with the grain

21. Solving Real-World Problems
Steve has an unfinished armoire that he wants to paint. The armoire is constructed of pine and has been sanded with 220 grit sandpaper. After priming with an oil-based primer, Steve decides to paint it with an old 4” nylon paintbrush. The paint that Steve has chosen is an oil-based paint that has a very thick texture. What can Steve use to thin the paint so that it can be brushed? Will his nylon brush do a good job, or is there another that would work better?
