Sea World “For more than 50 years we have been leading theme park and entertainment company delivering personal, interactive educational experiences that blend the imagination with nature and enable our guests to celebrate, connect with and care for the natural world we share.” Sea World is a famous Water park that is known for its Killer Whale Show. People from all around the world come for the experience of a life time. What if I were to tell you that this experience is coated with lies and half truths?

Blackfish Documentary
Blackfish is a documentary film that tells the story of a killer whale that killed several people and trainers. The documentary provides shocking footage of trainers being harmed or the whale acting out. It shares cruel treatment killer whales went through under captivity. The lies and pressure trainers and coworkers had to tell to hide the truth of these shocking stories and footage. It challenges to reflect on whether having these animals or any animals in captivity for purely entertainment. Is this killer whale harmful? Or what captivity the culprit in the harmful acts?

Sea world Sea World is known for their care program. They have over zoological experts that care for 29 killer whales. Have invested on $70,000 in their habitats for the whales. They educate their audience in all the animals they have rescued, reconciled, and returned to the ocean. They offer entertainment and great experiences for all ages.

My View Though both sides have valid views I strongly agree with the documentary. I don’t believe any animal under captivity is living a full and healthy life. Having them for purely entertainment can leave them in a psychotic phase. The footage in the documentary was proof that these animals are able to harm and act out.

Conclusion Though there is controversy pertaining to BlackFish motives and credible information we should all challenge ourselves to view it as the whales best interest. Are they better off being in the wild roaming free? Or is 24 hour supervision and necessities taken care a luxury rather than an imprisonment.
