5 Who owns plate transfers and cancellations?
Fleet Managers must recognize the complexity of the plate transfer and cancellation processes and educate their drivers accordingly Transfers and cancellations of plates can save you money, but is not hassle free. Many variables are out of scope for GE (i.e. “customer arranged offer to purchase”, and “driver sales”) Drivers must provide a copy of their current vehicle registration in order for the dealer to transfer the plate Section 9 “Surrender of Vehicles” of the Master Lease Agreement assigns ownership of plate returns to the lessee A dealership facilitates the process, but they do not own the process. It is not the dealership’s responsibility to educate the driver

6 Plate cancellation ensures no future issues with:
* Continuing Personal Property Tax Charges * Delinquent Emission Inspections * Insurance Lapses * Violations
