1 Jesus and see where Jesus is working in our lives.

2 Spend some time with Jesus…..
We pray for others. We reflect on what type of person Jesus calls us to be, and we ask for his guidance in living up to our potential. Spend some time with Jesus….. We reflect on what type of person Jesus calls us to be, and we ask for his guidance in living up to our potential. There are many ways to pray, and many people that need our prayers. Your pamphlets give you some ideas but there are countless ways to pray. Our prayers can be as simple as asking Jesus to help someone, it does not need to be a memorized prayer or a long prayer.

3 We give alms with a spirit of generosity to those in need, honoring Jesus’ call to serve our neighbors. By this monetary support, we can improve the lives of many. 4 Fasting: Helps us to focus on Jesus
Helps us to remember the hungry and poor Helps us to focus on Jesus: Our hunger reminds us of our hunger for Jesus When we feel hungry or want what we gave up, we are reminded that everything we have is a gift from God. Helps us to remember the hungry and poor - fasting also reminds us of those who do not have enough food, who experience hunger without a choice. God calls each of us to care for those who are in need. What can you fast on this Lent?

5 Through CRS Rice Bowl, we hear stories from our brothers and sisters throughout the world, reflect on our own lives and faith, and devote our Lenten prayers, fasting and almsgiving for those in need. 6 What to Give Up OR What to do….
Some ideas of what to give up: Some ideas of what to do extra: Dessert Say an additional prayer daily Video Games Coffee During Lent it is the custom to either give up something or to do something extra. Why? The purpose is to remind us of Jesus, his life, his ministry and his sacrifice. The idea of giving up something is that the wanting of the thing you gave up reminds you of lent and thus Jesus. A nice practice would be to say a little prayer whenever you want what you gave up. The idea of doing something extra is to do something that will help bring us closer to God. What could you do that would give you cause to rejoice on Easter. You could combine the two by doing something extra in the place of giving up something. i.e. If you give up buying video games you could give that money to the poor OR if you give up desserts maybe you could help around the kitchen more. Discuss at your tables what you could give up or do extra during lent. Make sure it is something possible/doable but not too easy that it is not an effort. Once you’ve decided each person write down what you have promised Jesus on the cards provided. When you have all decided on something choose a spokes person for your table to share with everyone what your table has decided to do or give up. We will make lists that we will hang in the hallway by the classrooms. Attend Mass more often Gossiping Visit nursing home
