Anxiety Unrest (feel things aren’t right) Injustice Sometimes noise

8 Conflicts Conflict happens between: Different countries
Different communities Neighbours Families Friends

9 Have you ever had a conflict with someone?
How did it make you feel?

11 Causes of Conflict Different opinions, values and beliefs
Real or perceived injustice Real of perceived threats (fearful) Emotions (angry, jealous, anxiety) Not listening or compromising

12 The Consequences of Conflict
In the world there are many people living in countries at war this includes children. This may cause them to: Feel fearful Miss out on parts of life that we take for granted Have to fight Get illnesses/ sickness Lose family members Die

13 True Stories (Kites For All)
Do you like to fly kites? How do you feel when you fly your kite?

14 True Stories (Kites For All)
Aymel: Aymel lives in Afghanistan which is a country that has wars and fighting. Aymel loves to fly his kite and lets it soar in the sky. His uncle told him he must be careful when he flies his kite. If he sees green and red lights in the sky he must go home. The lights are drones which can be dangerous. The drones can drop bombs and one even killed his dad. On March 21st in Afghanistan people fly kites in the sky and can make wishes. Every year Aymel’s wish is the same.

15 Aymel’s Wish ”That there will be peace and that I can fly my kite without being afraid”

16 Aymel’s Wish To honour Aymel’s wish shall we as a school fly our kites on March 21st?

17 True Stories (Sadaku) Sadaku was two years old when a bomb dropped in Japan. She luckily survived. When she was in Year 6 she started to get very sick and went to hospital. The doctors said the bomb had made her sick and she wouldn’t live very long. Her friend visited her with a gold crane. Her friend told her there was a story that if you make 1000 paper cranes you can make a wish.

18 True Stories (Sadaku) Sadaku worked very hard and made 644 cranes but then she died. Her family was happy she wouldn’t feel any more pain. The cranes were given to all her friends at her funeral and they decided they wanted to get a statue of Sadaku as her death was so unfair. Donations came from school children everywhere.

19 True Stories (Sadaku) Written on her statue were the words:
This is our cry This is our prayer To create peace in the world. Children across the world make cranes and write on their messages of peace. There are thousands of paper cranes at her statue.

21 Being Peaceful True peace is not the absence of conflict… but the presence of justice.

22 True Stories (Mama Zeperata)
Lived in Kenya in a house with all her family. One day a Big Man decided he wanted her house so he took it off her. He knocked it down. Mama Zeperata wanted to get her house back so she asked the Village Chief and the District Commisoner. But they wouldn’t help. So she went to court and they said it was her house. But the Big Man said “no” The other villagers were angry and they decided to help her build her house again. The Big Man sent the police to get it back for him. They hurt the villagers and told them to leave, The villagers were angry but they stayed calm. They told the police their story and explained it wasn’t right. The police let them carry on building her house.
