IPC(8) The student knows that changes in matter affect everyday life. The student is expected to: (A) Distinguish between physical and chemical changes in matter such as oxidation, digestion, changes in states, and stages in the rock cycle.

2 Day 1: Construct a two tab foldable
Materials Sheet of paper scissors Instructions: Hamburger fold the handout along center fold line Cut along dashed line from edge to center fold Color “Physical Changes” flap Color “Chemical Changes” flap a second color

3 Day 2: Notes Record the following notes under the “Physical Changes” flap Identity of material DOES NOT change Ex: when you crush ice, the resulting material is still ice Includes: changes in state (evaporation, condensation, melting, boiling, freezing) More words to look for:
