BODY PARAGRAPH 1 When being notified about this assignment it hit me with an instant shock. I was confused and nervous because it was my first research paper I was responsible for at this University. I hardly knew the format for this paper. The Lecturer barely discussed what she wanted from us and we were told to use the Course outline as a guide but still it left many students puzzled especially me. This paper had me stressed as I was unsure how to even start. I kept on procrastinating just like Hinton said because I didn’t understand or know exactly what to write.
29
Body Paragraph 2 Then last minute I realized that I must get this paper completed so I began to write. In the writing I included all information that was relevant to the topic. I tried my best as possible to pick words to insert into the research paper. After I had finally completed the paper, it felt incomplete like something was missing; actually, it felt like everything was missing. This made my mind scattered but when I looked at the clock it was already minutes before the assignment’s deadline. So I quickly attempt to send in my work to the lecturer. Sitting down thinking about the worked that was sent in I began worrying that I was already doom at the beginning of my first semester.
30
THE CONCLUSION After reading Hinton’s article I realized that her advice ‘Don’t panic and don’t procrastinate’ would have made my research paper much better. When receiving the writing assignment I began to panic which had blurred my thoughts and so I was unable to think and analyze critically. The bunch of negative attitude that was formed against doing this writing assignment caused me to procrastinate. At that moment I could only rush to put all that information together in less than 24 hours when the lecturer had given us a week to get it done. From the beginning I should have read the instructions over and even take the time to contact the lecturer and asked her to explain what I haven’t understand while I make note of the important information. I should have never result to procrastinating but instead use each day given to work on the writing assignment.

Consider Irvin… Lennie Irvin’s article entitled “What is Academic Writing?” clears up several misconceptions about writing that novice students have and outlines the aspects of writing and the nature of the writing task.
