29 Why SBS-modified Bitumen?

30 Why SBS-modified Bitumen?
Superior waterproof protection Prefabricated waterproof sheet materials Redundant protection In the field of the roof At critical areas, i.e., flashings and transitions Membrane is typically > 200 mils thick Tough, puncture resistant membrane Less than 2 lb/ft2

31 Why SBS-modified Bitumen?
Multi-layer protection and versatility SBS-modified bitumen may be used in: Multiply SBS membranes with factory surfacing Hybrid SBS base ply + PMMA/PMA liquid applied membrane Hybrid SBS base ply + PVC cap sheet Hybrid traditional BUR surfaced with an SBS cap sheet Multiply SBS membranes with field applied roof coating

32 Why SBS-modified Bitumen?
Numerous Application Methods Heat welded Cold applied, adhesives Self-adhesive Mechanically fastened Hot asphalt

33 Why SBS-modified Bitumen?
Contractor and occupant safe This is not your father’s SBS-modified bitumen No kettles No flames No solvents Limited construction disruption / delay

34 Why SBS-modified Bitumen?
Environmentally friendly Universally VOC-compliant adhesives / primers Solvent-free adhesives Self-adhesive membranes Mechanically fastened systems

35 Why SBS-modified Bitumen?
Energy efficiency Highly reflective mineral granules Low dirt pick-up white laminated surfacing Metal foil surfacing Reflective roof coatings Hybrid SBS base ply + white PVC cap

36 Why SBS-modified Bitumen?
Ease of maintenance Adhered systems limit moisture migration in the event of a breach Easily repaired with like materials At any “age” Tough and trafficable for industrial applications

37 Why SBS-modified Bitumen?
Sustainable Garden roof systems New generation bio-based materials (NEO) Performance history since early 1970’s Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) from Bitumen Waterproofing Association (BWA) Reports a 90 year service life for SBS modified bitumen* *includes two overlays without tear-off
