2 God Remembered Genesis 8
Noah Alone on the Deep God Remembers Noah Remembers

3 God Remembered Genesis 8
Noah Alone on the Deep The storm would have set the tone. The ark was on a worldwide sea for over a year! The sea is a lonely place, especially when you can’t see land. Noah must have felt like God had forgotten him. Noah must have felt abandoned. God had not spoken to Noah in a year!

4 God Remembered Genesis 8
God Remembers Does God actually forget? Or, is this Noah’s point of view? This passage communicates hope! There are tangible ways that God communicated this to Noah.

5 God Remembered Genesis 8
God Remembers First, God begins to remove the water. Wind = rauch – same as Genesis 1,2 Similar language to creation Dark from the storm Covered in water Winds separate water from land. Plants renew themselves. Animals and man are told to multiply. Habakkuk 3:17-18; Amos 9:13-14

6 Habakkuk 3: (NASB) 17  Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no cattle in the stalls, 18  Yet I will exult in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.

7 Amos 9: (NASB) 13  “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “When the plowman will overtake the reaper And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; When the mountains will drip sweet wine And all the hills will be dissolved. 14  “Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, And they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, And make gardens and eat their fruit.

God Remembers Second, God gave Noah a sign. Noah sends a Raven. Noah sends a Dove, and it returns. Noah sends a Dove, and it returns with an olive branch. Noah sends a Dove, and it does not return. This is a symbol of peace even today.

9 God Remembered Genesis 8
God Remembers Third, God remembered Noah by words and by speaking to him again. Not only did God speak, but he gave very specific instructions. Genesis 7:1 tells us that God invited them into the ark; now He tells them to go out. Have you ever asked God why He doesn’t speak about something? Do what Noah did and keep “keeping on.”

10 God Remembered Genesis 8
Noah Remembers This is the first time we are told God remembered, but not the last. Genesis 19:29 – God remembered Abraham. Genesis 30:22 – God remembered Rachel. Psalm 9:12 – God remembers the afflicted. Psalm 136:23 – God remembers us in our low estate.

11 God Remembered Genesis 8
Noah Remembers Noah remembered God! Noah came out of the ark. Noah sacrificed. Noah, a sinner, came to God in the way appointed. This is surprising because it is not in our nature to come to God on His terms. We forget, but God remembers and gives us ways to remember Him.
