3 Babies come into the world with many innate abilities, or abilities that are present from birth. At birth, they possess motor reflexes such as the sucking reflex and the grasping reflex. Newborns can also hear, smell, touch, taste, and see, and these sensory abilities develop quickly.

4 Nature and nurture are the issues of heredity and environment
Development psychology is the psychology for growth, change and consistency from conception to death. Nature and nurture are the issues of heredity and environment

5 Nature Nature interaction means that we are all born with certain predispositions(nature)

6 Twin study Is the means of separating the effects of nature and nurture by which investigators may compare identical twins to fraternal twins or compare twins separated early in life and raised in different environments.

8 Prenatal period The neonatal period
Infants possess innate ablilites; Prenatal period is the development period before birth The neonatal period refers to the first month after birth. At this time, time the infant has sensory and social abilities.

9 Contact comfort : is the stimulation and reassurance derived from the physical touch of a care giver Attachment : is the enduring socio-emotional relationship between a child and a parent or other regular care giver

This is a psychological disorder involving poor impulse control, difficulty concentrating on a task for a sustained period of time, high distract ability and excessive activity.

15 Adolescence is the beginning of early adulthood Emerging adulthood is the transition period between adolescence and adulthood

16 Midlife is the next stage of development. Complexity and generativity are parts of this stage. Late adulthood : is considered to be the age of integrity includes physical and cognitive changes

17 Exchange of nutrients and waste products
Fetal al chocohol syndrome (FAS): a set of physical and mental problems seen in children whose mothers drink excessive amounts of al chohol during pregnancy. Sensory, social and innate reflexes are the three main abilities during the neonatal period.
