APDS Advanced Placement Distinguished Scholars APS Advanced Placement Scholars Each concentration area would require the successful completion of 6 or more AP courses and exams 4 or more from within the required core subject areas and 2 AP Capstone Diploma courses (AP Seminar & AP Research) Each concentration area would require the successful completion of a focused service- learning portfolio completed through the AP Capstone Diploma courses. 6 APS Advanced Placement Scholars
APID Advanced Placement International Diploma Students must successfully complete 6 or more AP courses (and exams) and earn grades of 3 or higher on at least 5 AP exams in the following content areas: Two AP exams from TWO different languages selected from English and/or world languages One AP exam from a global perspective (World History, Human Geography, and/or Comparative Government and Politics) One AP exam from a science or math content areas One (or two) additional exams(s) from any content area except English and World languages –OR- both AP Seminar and AP Research (AP Capstone Program)

7 Advanced Placement International Diploma
APID Advanced Placement International Diploma Students must indicate on at least one AP exam answer sheet that the results should be sent to a university outside of the United States. Students must complete a service learning portfolio.

8 AP Capstone Program A two-year seminar and research course that explores real-world issues while focusing on developing critical analysis, communication and investigative skills. Two Courses-AP Seminar and AP Research are designed to complement and enhance the in-depth, discipline-specific study. AP Capstone Diploma-Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in both the AP Capstone courses and on four additional AP exams of their choosing. AP Seminar and Research Certificate-Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in both of the AP Capstone courses but not on the four additional AP exams.

What is a C.L.A.S.S. Porfolio? Community Leadership And Service above Self Project APS Advanced Placement Scholars A C.L.A.S.S. (Community Leadership And Service above Self) service-learning portfolio is required for all students in APPX Program. C.L.A.S.S. can assist students in demonstrating leadership potential in their focus area, aid the student in making a difference either locally or globally, and facilitate individual student growth.

C.L.A.S.S. Community Leadership And Service above Self Portfolio APS Advanced Placement Scholars The student will complete a service-learning portfolio fulfilled through the successful completion of the AP Capstone Diploma Program in an effort to address a social issue either on the local or global level aligned with their concentration focus area. C.L.A.S.S. will also help meet the community serive requirements for the VA Board of Education’s Excellence in Civics Education Seal and will qualify students for consideration of the President’s Volunteer Service Award. The student will submit a summary, reflection, and portfolio of the project during the beginning of the student’s senior year. President Volunteer Service Award 50-hour requirement…what does that include? Time on task or includes meetings, etc. 100 hours in a 12-month period may be eligible for President Volunteer Award. If you have a group of 4 or more with more than 25 hours each, they may have group award. Gold=250 or more in a 12-month period
