2 The Goal of the Competition:
The promotion of Technological Education Technical career awareness Showcase student knowledge and skills Further development of Industry and Education partnerships Advance Halton’s top students (1 from Public, 1 Catholic) to the Ontario Skills Competition and beyond

5 Timelines Please make sure that ALL in school competitions happen BEFORE the end of February February 3rd Send scopes to Barb March 1st 4:00 – 5:30 Coaches Meeting & Budget Request Form due (bring one cheque for your school for competing students) February 24th Online Registration deadline for students March 27th 3:00 – 9:00 pm – Competition Setup March 28th 8:00 am – 7:00 pm - Competition & Closing ceremonies

6 Interview (secondary only)
5 Minute interview – Marked this year (Remember they need to bring a resume!!) When would you like it to be done during the day? Age of Competitors - Secondary Students less than 22 in Dec

7 Coordinators Job Decide how many competitors you can have for your competition and coordinate with coaches Check room out today to make sure the room is OK. Fill out the Competition Overview sheet today that gives us info about room set up Write the scopes for your competition in consultation with your subject group and the Ontario Skills scope and then to Barb Finan by Friday February 3rd Set up the competition night before with help from others. Coordinate competition the day of and hand in results Get judges for competition

8 Competition Scopes In line as much as you can with the Ontario Skills Competition scope. Keep in mind that competition must be finished by 3pm at latest!! 5 minute interview should be included (secondary only) Clearly display competition scope and project on the wall outside competition location for the spectators. 9 Registration & Numbers
Coordinators will determine number max. Keep this in mind as you look at the resources you have. Coordinators MUST contact the coaches with specifics!!!!! ie need # of competitors so can order accurate materials Coaches meeting will be Wednesday March 1st Registration deadline is Friday Feb 24th

10 Online Registration Registration will close Feb 24 for students and NO hand written forms will be accepted! Sit down with student to register and you will receive 2 s. Please print off both the summary of student information and the 2 signed waiver forms and send Secondary to Elin or Bernadette for Elementary. Only COMPLETE registration forms will be accepted. Incomplete forms will be sent back. Check for signatures on BOTH forms!

11 Materials List Budget – needs to be approved by Veronica– try to get donations of materials for the competition but let Chris Cavalier know who you are contacting first PLEASE. Please fill out the Budget Projection Form given out tonight and hand it back in to Elin or Lesley Andrews (elementary) so we can start organizing.

12 Budget Request Form Please fill out one form for each vendor due March 1st. Once Veronica has approved, you can order items. Forward invoice to Elin or Lesley for payment.

13 Purchasing and Invoicing
Supplies under $2000 that was previously approved by Veronica can be ordered by schools and have invoice sent to Elin at NSEC along with the Budget request form.

14 In-Kind &/or Materials Donation
Sponsorship Levels Level Cost Sponsor Recognition Platinum $5,000 Competition Co-sponsorship – Sponsor may select 3 events to sponsor. Company logo and QR code on signage at competition event Table in the Career Showcase Event Program – logo, QR code, website listed in Program Competitor T-shirts – Large Sponsor logo placed on the back of T-shirts Website – Company Name & hyperlink to website listed Thank-you Letter – Logo and mention in post-event Thank-you letter Gold $2,500 Competition Co-sponsorship – Sponsor may select 2 events to sponsor. Company logo and QR code on signage at competition event Competitor T-shirts – Medium Sponsor logo placed on the back of T-shirts Thank-you Letter – Logo in post-event Thank-you letter Silver $1,000 Competition Co-sponsorship – Sponsor may select 1 event to sponsor. Company logo and QR code on signage at competition event Event Program – Company name, QR code, website listed in Program Competitor T-shirts – Medium Sponsor Name placed on the back of T-shirts Bronze $300 Event Program – Company name & website listed in Program Competitor T-shirts – Small Sponsor Name placed on the back of T-shirts In-Kind &/or Materials Donation Services or Materials Sponsor may donate materials for use during Competition Events Sponsor may donate Services for the operation of the Skills Competition Sponsor will be acknowledged in the Event Program and on the Event website

15 Competition Locations
See map provided for locations that have been decided. Please look at map of school and decide where your event will go and let Conor or Barb know. Check out location for electrical requirements, plumbing etc. to make sure it is OK. If you wish to change your location, come back to cafeteria and let Conor or myself know PLEASE.

16 Permission Slips $20.00 fee per student to be paid by parent to individual schools Contact Elin or Bernadette if your school requires an invoice. Deadline for permission form is March 3rd but would like all forms in by Coaches Meeting.

17 Competition Lunch Break
Lunch will be staggered Spectators viewing competitions during lunch

18 Closing Ceremonies Veronica Kleinsmith is organizing the closing ceremonies. We are making a commitment to keeping the closing ceremonies as short as possible. (1 hour) Elementary winners and Secondary together Final results will be announced at these ceremonies

19 Appeals Committee Veronica Kleinsmith and Cathy Jenkins are chairing the Appeals committee In line with the Ontario Skills Competition Competitor appeals
