Baptismal Service

Greetings from a Pastor

Exodus 14:21-22 21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided

22 So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left (NKJV)

God performed a great miracle for the crying Israelites making water tunnel into the midst of the Red Sea Upon the water tunnel was the pillar of cloud and dry ground on the bottom and water walls on left and right sides

What does going through the water tunnel symbolise in the experience of the Red Sea by the children of Israel?

1 Corinthians 10:1-2 1 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, (NKJV)

The children of Israel’s Red Sea experience portray “meaning,” “symbol,” and “type” of baptism

1 Corinthians 10:2 “all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea”

The Journey of God’s People Egypt The Red Sea The Wilderness

What does Egypt represent in the Bible? Revelation 11:8 8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified

What does the wilderness then, symbolise in the Bible? Acts 7:37 and 38 37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear

38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sinai, and [with] our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: (KJV)

According to Acts 7:37 and 38, what does Moses represent? Acts 7:37 37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear (KJV)

What did the children of Israel do before they walked through the Red Sea?

Exodus 12:6-11 6 'Now you shall keep it[a lamb] until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. 7 'And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.

8 'Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 'Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire--its head with its legs and its entrails

10 'You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. 11 'And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the LORD'S Passover

What did the Israelites do before they went through the Red Sea? The head of each family was to offer a lamb for himself and for his family

When did they do it? On the fourteenth of January at twilight in the sacred calendar The head of each family sprinkled some of the blood of a lamb with a bunch of hyssop on the two doorposts and on the lintel for his house

What did the lamb and his blood represent? John 1:29 “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (NKJV)”

Sprinkling the lamb’s blood on the two doorposts and on the lintel means you will accept Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour After that you could cross over the Rea Sea

The Red Sea separates Egypt and the Wilderness

Egypt The Red Sea The Wilderness Sinful World Baptism Church

What is the difference between Egypt and the Wilderness? In Egypt the children of Israel need to dig the ground, plant crops and served the Egyptians “to live”

Whereas in the wilderness the Israelites did not need to dig the ground and plant their crops “to live” God provided the manna and water for their living The wilderness church (Acts 7:38) is the training ground to “depend upon God

Baptism is a holy contract between you and God Therefore totally depending upon God, surrendering your will to His will is the true meaning of living in the wilderness church That is the meaning of baptism and the new start in wilderness church

Ellen G. White comments: “Redemption is that process by which the soul is trained for heaven. This training means a knowledge of Christ. It means emancipation from ideas, habits, and practices that have been gained in the school of the prince of darkness. The soul must be delivered from all that is opposed to loyalty to God” (The Desire of Ages, 330)

Romans 6:3-6 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life

5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

The School of Christ Training would not promise that you are always happy and comfortable but you are guaranteed to be sit with Jesus on His throne (see Revelation 3:21) as well as you are promised to receive the “crown of life” (Revelation 2:10) if you are patient with God

The Journey of God’s People Egypt The Red Sea Canaan The Wilderness The Lamb Was Slain Baptism (Death) Believers’ experience Resurrection for New Life Heaven (Those who are trained)

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”
