Kentucky Department for Public Health PARTNERSHIP Kentucky Pharmacists Association MISSION Kentucky Public Health Preparedness enhances the capacity of the Kentucky Department for Public Health, local public health departments and the health care system to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the adverse health effects of public health emergencies and disasters.

KPhA Director of Pharmacy Emergency Preparedness utilizes KPhA emergency preparedness advisory workgroup as sounding board, providing input in the development of emergency preparedness programs and; Serves as liaison between KPhA Emergency Preparedness Workgroup, KPhA Board of Directors and KDPH preparedness branch

KPhA Director of Pharmacy Emergency Preparedness Responsibilities include: Engage pharmacists to serve the public in need of pharmaceutical services during a disaster Manage pharmaceutical assets with the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH), Emergency Preparedness Branch Develop and implement an emergency preparedness operations plan for pharmacies Develop program for utilization of mobile pharmacy Develop standard operating guidelines for program initiatives

Importance of Pharmacy Volunteer Pharmacy volunteers are an integral part of the emergency response, when a pharmacy or health-system is faced with responding to and managing a major crisis event. Pharmacy volunteers play a pivotal role in the response to a crisis event, that necessitates the provision of pharmaceutical services to the public.
