9 [ Pastor / CONGREGATION ]
THE CALL TO WORSHIP: [ Pastor / CONGREGATION ] Christ the Lord is risen today ! HE IS RISEN INDEED ! On this Easter Sunday Morning, we celebrate NEW LIFE, NEW BEGINNINGS, AND SECOND CHANCES. We belong to God ! WE BELONG TO GOD IN LIFE; IN DEATH; IN LIFE AFTER DEATH.

10 THE OPENING HYMN: #357 ‘CHRIST AROSE’
Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior! Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord! Up from the grave He arose, With a mighty triumph o’er His foes; He arose a victor from the dark domain, And He lives forever with His saints to reign. He arose! He Arose! Hallelujah–Christ arose. (1)

11 Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior!
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord! Up from the grave He arose, With a mighty triumph o’er His foes; He arose a victor from the dark domain, And He lives forever with His saints to reign. He arose! He Arose! Hallelujah–Christ arose. (2)

12 Death cannot keep his prey, Jesus my Savior!
He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord! Up from the grave He arose, With a mighty triumph o’er His foes; He arose a victor from the dark domain, And He lives forever with His saints to reign. He arose! He Arose! Hallelujah–Christ arose. (3)

13 THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON Corinthians 15:51,52,57 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

14 RESURRECTION ALLELUIAS
THE CHANCEL CHOIR RESURRECTION ALLELUIAS

15 THE APOSTLES’ CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

16 From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic1 Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen 1- catholic means “universal”

18 A TIME OF SHARING WITH GOD’S CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

19 THE NEW TESTAMENT SCRIPTURE
Luke 24:1-12 Read by Doris Norton On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

20 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two beings in garments that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the beings said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee: “The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again." Then they remembered His words.

21 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

22 THE SONG OF PREPARATION:
#353 VICTORY IN JESUS

23 (1a) I heard an old, old story, How a Savior came from glory, How He gave His life on Calvary To save a wretch like me. I heard about His groaning, Of His precious blood atoning, Then I repented of my sins And won the victory.

24 (1b) O victory in Jesus, My Savior forever. He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him, And all my love is due Him He plunged me to victory Beneath the cleansing flood.

25 (2a) I heard about His healing, Of His cleansing power revealing, How He made the lame to walk again And caused the blind to see. And then I cried, “dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit.” And somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory.

26 (2b) O victory in Jesus, My Savior forever. He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him, And all my love is due Him He plunged me to victory Beneath the cleansing flood.

27 (3a) I heard about His healing, Of His cleansing power revealing, How He made the lame to walk again And caused the blind to see. And then I cried, “dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit.” And somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory.

28 (3b) O victory in Jesus, My Savior forever. He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him, And all my love is due Him He plunged me to victory Beneath the cleansing flood.

33 If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is a waste of time
1 CORINTHIANS 15:12-20 If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is a waste of time and so is your faith and you are still in your sins. If Christ has not been raised then your loved ones who have died with their faith Christ are forever lost and you will never see them again.

34

35 Because Jesus died and rose again, we are introduced to the paradox of
JOY in the middle of SORROW LIFE in the middle of DEATH LIGHT in the middle of DARKNESS FREEDOM in the middle of CAPTIVITY

36 EVEN AT THE VERY END OF OUR ROPE, GOD PROVIDES A KNOT WE CAN HANG ON TO.

37 CHRIST THE LORD IS RISEN TODAY. HE IS RISEN INDEED!

38 The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer
OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THY NAME. THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD, AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS; AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL. FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY FOREVER AMEN.

44 Lives again, our glorious King; Alleluia!

45 Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
(3) Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia! Fought the fight, the battle won; Death in vain forbids Him rise; Christ has opened Paradise.

46 Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
(4) Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia! Following our exalted Head; Made like Him, like Him we rise; Ours the cross, the grave, the skies.

47 Christ, the Lord, is risen today!
The Pastoral Benediction Today the Lenten journey is ended. On this Easter Sunday, we once again proclaim the Good News that God’s love for us is infinitely greater than the power of sin and death! Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! Christ, the Lord, is risen today! He is risen indeed!
