14 Task (1) Put your heads together and discuss this question:
How are you going to shape your classroom tomorrow ?( How would you help your teachers to do so ?

16 Task (2) What is ICT ? What does it stand for ?
( In your opinion , what comes under the ICT umbrella ?)

17 ICT stands for …… Information and Communications Technology\Technologies). ( In your opinion , what comes under the ICT umbrella ?) It is an umbrella term that includes any communication device or application, encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning.

19 Why is it important to use ICT in the class?
Using ICT for learning will help students to become: Competent information technology users. Information seekers, analyzers, and evaluators. Problem solvers and decision makers. Creative and effective users of productivity tools. Communicators, collaborators, publishers, and producers. Informed, responsible, and contributing citizens.

20 ( Task 3 ) How to use ICT for teaching and learning
( Task 3 ) How to use ICT for teaching and learning? Arrange the steps for using ICT for learning All subjects in the following pyramid ..

21 ( Task 3 ) Discussion How to use ICT for teaching and learning?
Creating & Managing deeper learning through ICT Facilitate students learning with and/ or through ICT ( Design ICT enables lesson plans and e- material, creating teaching proper leaning environment) Using ICT in subjects teaching (Teaching with ICT) Integrating ICT in lesson planning: use of multimedia tools Teachers’ learning about ICT ( as students ) ( Task 3 ) Discussion How to use ICT for teaching and learning? As we all know that pupils in the primary stage used to have a stand alone ICT subject , It is not there any more as a stand alone subject . It is integrated and embedded in most if not all of the school subjects .

22 Pros and cons of using technology in the class
Task (4) In your groups discuss and write down the Pros and cons of using technology in the class Distributing small wall charts

23 Pros 1. Prepares Students for the Future.
( they should know how to use technology to cooperate and communicate in their future careers ) 2. Increases Student Engagement and Motivation. (Allows teachers to engage pupils in new ways , like virtual field trips around the world ) 3. Supports Differentiated Instruction ( Teachers use technology to meet individual needs through specific programmes and apps ) Advantages of Using Technology in the Classroom Prepares Students for the Future: It is without question that students will need to know how to use technology to communicate and collaborate in their future careers. Almost all jobs use at least one form of technology, so students need to be comfortable using it. Increases Student Engagement and Motivation: Technology allows teachers to engage and motivate students in new ways, like taking students on a virtual field trip to other parts of the world. Supports Differentiated Instruction: Teachers can use technology to meet the individual needs of students. Specific programs, apps, or websites give teachers the options to offer content to students at different levels, allowing students to access material at their own pace. Supports Universal Design for Learning Practices: This means that teachers need to make sure all students can access the material being presented. Technology offers tools, such as voice recognition, volume control, or word prediction software, that can support struggling students. Provides Current Information and Wider Access: Technology gives students the most current information available. Electronic textbooks or Web-based content can be updated in real-time. Classrooms can connect with other classrooms around the world to broaden their learning. Improves Instructional Delivery: Teachers can design student-centered lessons by allowing students to take an active part in the lesson. Classroom time can be spent with students asking critical questions and engaging in creative problem solving. Immediate Formative Assessment: There are many apps and programs available to allow teachers to assess their students in order to obtain real-time assessment information on their students. This allows teachers to make needed adjustments to the lesson.

24 More Pros 4. Gives the teacher immediate Formative Assessment.
There are many apps and programs available to allow teachers to assess their students. 5. students learn ICT skills together with the language. 6. students can use authentic language through online lessons. 7. Enables students to learn at their own pace. ( individual differences ) Improves Instructional Delivery. (Teachers can design student-centered lessons by allowing students to take an active part in the lesson Immediate Formative Assessment. There are many apps and programs available to allow teachers to assess their students. students learn ICT skills together with the language. Having online lessons, students can use authentic language. It enables students to learn at their own pace. ( individual differences ) Critical thinking and evaluation . Collaboration skill

25 More Pros 8. 9. It will strengthen critical thinking and evaluation .
10. Increasing student achievement 11. Developing communication and Collaboration skills. The teacher will no longer be the center of attention, but essential in the learning process

26 Cons There could appear technical problems.
lack of IT skills both teachers and students. Mixed ability- some students are advanced and some are slow Classroom management-teacher could find it difficult to draw students' attention. Slow Internet connection.

27 ICT can be used in education in many ways:
Learning about ICT - Teachers and students learn about ICT to develop ICT skills and knowledge to support learning. Learning with ICT - Teachers and students use ICT technologies to learning. Learning through ICT- Teachers and students use ICT to transform the process of teaching and learning in new ways. Asking whether technology can improve education is like asking whether experiments can improve science education. Everything depends on what kind of technology is introduced, how it is used, its design and how teachers are supported to use it.

28 Using and abusing Technology in the classroom

29 Task ( 5 ) With your group members discuss and write down
How can teachers use & abuse technology in the class

30 Using Technology should be for doing good things in better ways.
Technology should be for sharing and communicating with the world (E.G : Distance learning – Conferences) Technology should not just allow us to do traditional in a different way; it should allow us to do things that we thought were not possible. To think correctly about technology’s interaction with society it helps to think about the story of goldilocks and the three little bears (Brett, 1990). She enters the house of the three bears and is hungry. She sees three bowls of porridge and tastes the first one - which is way too hot. The second one she tastes is too cold. Of course, the third one is “just right”. When reading about how technology impacts our lives, we frequently find this same pattern. The first articles you come across will feature technology as an excellent tool to achieve what you want - too instrumentalist. The next articles you read will be damning critiques about technology taking over our lives and destroying society - too determinist. When you dig deeper into the philosophy of technology, you will find more balanced theories - theories that will claim they are “just right”. I

31 Abusing Technology when …
Using it as a digital worksheet. Using it as a way to keep students busy. Using it to do what can be done without it. Using it as a source of research in classrooms. In some classrooms technology is overused. This can lead to a variety of problems. Many students learn best by physically and mentally interacting with what they are studying . In some classrooms technology is overused. This can lead to a variety of problems. Many students learn best by physically and mentally interacting with what they are studying. If most of the teaching is done using a computer, these students' needs are not being met. Technology should be used to supplement the classroom curriculum, but should not be used as the sole source of learning.
