5 How AVID works Students take AVID elective class + courses
Learn Cornell note-taking and learning logs Organize binder Work with college-aged tutors Experience college and enrichment trips WIC-R (writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading) Enroll in Advanced placement and/or International Baccalaureate courses.

Students gain college prep skills Facilitates tutoring sessions Builds character development Prepares students for AP and IB classes Liaison between subject area teachers and students

Meets with college student tutors Meets with Advisory teachers Discusses concerns, lessons, and classroom activities Liaison with Education Department of colleges Liaison with New York City representatives from AVID
