18 April, 2018 Ice-breaker 5 minutes on…. Who you are. Where you are from. Your experience with satellite club delivery so far. Say that we’re just going to take 5 minutes for some quick introductions around your table or with colleagues in the room…keep to time!

4 18 April, 2018 Satellite clubs Increase the number of year olds playing sport regularly (1x30). Reduce the number of young people choosing not to play sport. Make it easier for young people to stay in sport or start playing sport for the first time. Provide a stepping stone to community sport. Increase the capacity of community clubs to cope with demand and/or broaden the scope of what a club can offer. By 2017 we aim to have at least 5,000 satellite clubs in place. Andrew Say that we all know what a satellite club is, but it’s worth refreshing what we are trying o achieve. The key focus is getting more year olds playing sport regularly – this should underpin everything you do.

5 Satellite club investment areas
18 April, 2018 Satellite club investment areas Local satellite club delivery funding – CSPs, PL4S & Other funding areas WSPs – 25 NGBs Andrew Update on the key focus areas of the intervention and the satellite club landscape. Give brief update on each NGB - 25 NGBs delivering satellite clubs as part of WSPs – each has a contractual target around no. clubs/participations. Big range from Archery to Football. Local delivery funding – Mixed economy – CSPs, PL4S & London Youth Rowing. CSP funding is about filling gaps in provision/meeting unmet demand. Delivering in sports other than the 25/non NGB prioritised areas. CLMs – Capacity funding – lead in every CSP area, accountable for ensuring that every sec school and college has the opportunity to host a satellite club…key contact. Any q’s before I move on. CSP Club Link Makers

7 Focus areas Thank you and keep it going! Profile of the intervention…
18 April, 2018 Focus areas Thank you and keep it going! Profile of the intervention… Outcome focused….. 14+ female participants regular participation true to the model quality assurance and sustainability CSP delivery planning Andrew – Run through key priorities. Thought it would be useful to run through key priorities for the year ahead – the 25 NGBs would have heard these last week. Thank you – this time last year we had just signed-off capacity delivery plans and the network was embryonic – we now have 2000 sat clubs, this is down to your work on the ground. We need to carry that good work into Linked to that, we need be making sure that delivery is happening and we’re able to demonstrate the impact our work is having both locally and nationally. …as there is a lot of scrutiny and focus on our work, this is high profile, both internally with SE, externally and politically. It’s a £49m investment, so that’s only right. I think we always need to take everything we’re doing back to the outcomes for the intervention – trying to transform the way young people are supported from education to community sport and increasing the number of young choosing to playing sport regularly. We need to be making an impact where is matters, so those age 14+ (you can work with 11-13, but where this is filling a gap/demand – not chasing the easy wins). Big focus on female participation and female clubs and narrowing the participation gap between males and females. This is also about regular participation and creating a sporting habit – so be true to the model – there is flexibility, but these aren’t after school clubs or club links - community club on a new site. Two key themes that are coming through for – quality assurance and sustainability – so making sure that the experience for sat club participants is high quality and that sustainability id built into satellite clubs plans and delivery. Quick update on impact study – we are in the process of appointing Substance as the evaluator of the intervention from ….early days and more to follow-on this.
