There is no place like home You are going to make a 3D house/home which reflects you

There’s no place like home
There’s no place like home. For centuries, the idea of home has been a source of inspiration for numerous artists.

Whether you live in an apartment in the city, or a farm in the countryside, your home can be more than just a shelter. It can be a reflection of yourself, created from your own imagination.

The Chinese Western Han Dynasty were so connected to their houses, that they created tomb offerings that were clay models of their houses, including the animals and furnishings that were in them. It was their way of taking a piece of their everyday life with them in the afterlife.

Contemporary Architects and ceramic artists have found a balance between form and decoration.

Project Brief: Research Artists looking at identity and produce a ceramic house which represents you.

Your house/home will be made using clay slab pot clay techniques
Your house/home will be made using clay slab pot clay techniques. The ‘roof’ will be removable revealing hidden surfaces inside.

Before we start using clay to build the house we need to design the interior and exterior. Today we will design the exterior… Your eventual clay design should have built up areas that result from adding extra clay. The imagery should wrap around the piece, instead focusing on each panel (or wall) of the house as separate. The theme for the design is your identity and your home.

Relief Sculpture
