3 Snow Fun Team Site Visit – Oregon Gardens near Salem, OR
In December 2016 the Holiday Lights Feasibility Study team traveled to Silverton Oregon for a site visit at the Oregon Gardens, “Christmas in the Garden” event. The team consists of Angela Funke - Polson Chamber, Brandy Chisholm - Ronan Chamber, Jay Preston - Ronan Telephone, Stephanie Morton- St. Ignatius Jack Stivers - MSU Lake County Extension and Sjaan Vincent - Friends of the Fairgrounds. The intention is to create a similar event for the Mission Valley, on the Lake County Fair Grounds, in Ronan Montana. Photo by Angela Funke

4 Holiday Lights? Lots of Questions!
Your Questions: Where did the idea come from? Why the Lake County Fairgrounds? Who can be involved? How will you pay for it? Early Study Answers: MEDA Community Assessment Lake County Fairgrounds is a central location and has the infrastructure to host an event of this size Everyone can be involved – Immediately Civic partnerships, sponsors, entry fees, special events, holiday parties and vendor fees

5 FEASIBILITY STUDY QUESTIONS (Narrowing to the SCOPE OF WORK)
Can these communities create an event that will generate extra holiday revenue for businesses, potentially generate revenue for community nonprofits, cover the expenses of the event, and become a community -- valley builder? Holiday Lights is designed to involve many civic groups, chambers, business’s and citizens, to work together—do we have the community engagement/resources to tackle this project? Is it possible to create a family oriented destination to make lasting memories for multi-generations and cultures? Can we have fun doing it?

6 Key Goal: Community--Valley Building
Traffic To Local Towns: People come, spend and experience our communities– Holiday Lights can be combined with other Community activities, outings Local Businesses: Promotional Opportunities and Holiday Sales Opportunities for Many to be Involved: It’s going to take all communities being involved to make it happen Valley Building: Collaborations with communities working together for common benefit on a unique project Numerous Benefits: Communities and organizations working together -- creates fundraising opportunities for businesses, non-profits and vendors Creates an Experience: Great fun for all visitors and families. Gives them an opportunity to experience the valley and provides a holiday family destination and tradition *Treats Seasonal Affective Disorder: (*Not yet evaluated by the FDA) 

Company Christmas Parties Ski/Sled Rentals Ice Sculpture Contest Baking Contest Snow Sculpture Contest Shared Traditions Visits from Santa Carolers School Concerts Cultural Events Holiday Bazaars Beer Garden Ice Skating Sleigh Rides Dutch Oven Cooking Cookie Exchange Community Dances Family Style Dinners Lights could be kept up and a portion of the site could be re-opened for a Winter Carnival, a Bavarian Festival, a Valentine’s Weekend event, or something we haven’t even considered at this point!
