As Geographers we will be using maps, atlases and globes to identify where we live and where our families are from. As Historians we will be use words and phrases such as; a long time ago, years, decades to describe the passing of time. We will show understanding of a nations history during our work around Black History Month. As Scientists we will be exploring our 5 senses. We will act as scientists asking questions, observing closely and talking about what we have done. We will identify and label parts of the body and learn about which part of the body is associated with which sense. As Religiously aware students we will be finding out about the festival of Eid. As Athletes we will be developing our skills to throw and bounce balls accurately. As Dancers we will be travelling in a variety of ways, using different parts of our bodies. We will link 2 or more movements together to create a sequence using the floor and some small apparatus. As Socially aware students we will be identifying different feelings and emotions and what can make us feel this way. We will talk about strategies we can use to solve simple problems. Futures Standards As Readers we will be listening to and identifying features of different types of poetry and will be looking for recurring word patterns. We will be learning and applying different strategies to decode words to help us read a variety of texts. As Writers we will be working on writing ‘good’ sentences – starting each sentence with a capital letter, spaces between words, using a full-stop at the end of a sentence. We will be working on forming all letters correctly and using our phonics to make plausible attempts at words we are writing. As Mathematicians we will be learning to accurately copy, act and read addition and subtraction maths stories with 1 digit whole numbers and ½ and ¼.
