The Co-Founders KADI LEE, CO-FOUNDER MYKA HARRIS, CO-FOUNDER Senior Colorist at Goddard and Bragg Founder of WAX + BUFF Entrepreneurs in the beauty industry, Kadi and Myka started the Highbrow Hippie blog in response to clients who kept asking for information about beauty, travel and their lives.

Why Venice? We seek to build a permanent base of operations at 1346 Abbot Kinney and occupy the space for many years to come. Our objectives are: To continue the artistic lineage of Venice and serve as a sanctuary for the community. On 11/17/15 the Venice Neighborhood Council overwhelmingly approved the project (9-2-4) LA DCP Approval On 02/05/2016 the Department of City Planning approved the project . Appeals We received the following Appeals, 1 one from the Coastal Commission and 3 Venice Residents. The Appellant's concerns question integration into the Venice Community compliance with Chapter 3 of the California Coastal Act. 1_Increase AIR size to larger residential unit 2_AIR are essential to Venice and its Artistic Community 3_Reduction in Diversity of Venice 4_Reduce Salon size 5_Add Vehicle Parking 6_Omit In-Lieu Parking Spaces 7_Bicycles are valuable supplements & realistic solutions 8_Propose Parking Plan A-5-VEN

Due to the appeals received for the previous design the team has collaborated with all parties to revise the design. attended 2 meetings with California Coastal Commission staff attended numerous community meetings arranged meetings directly with appellants weekly design collaboration between client and architect A-5-VEN

Summary In summary, in addition to complying with the Staff recommendation, we feel our design not only meets, but exceeds the Coastal Commission's goal to maintain Public Beach Access and sustainably integrate into the California Costal Region. In addition to meeting these requirements this new design also meets the community’s needs. We request that you approve this alternative design.
