2 Asian Clam Scattered distribution across state including many Long Island waters, Finger Lakes, Chautauqua Lake, Lake Erie and Lake George. It is two clams cringed together. The clams filter feed on plankton and compete with native mollusks for food and space. It is thought that it was brought to the U.S. by immigrants as a food source. Asian clams can colonize the intake pipes of water treatment systems and power stations.

3 Ladybugs help gardeners and farmers by eating tiny insect pests that damage plants. Infestation occurs during the fall with renewed activity on warm winter days and again in the spring. To help stop lady bugs seal gaps and cracks where ladybug beetles may enter the structure. Scientists say they came from Japan.
