Finding keywords through preliminary searches databases…. web sites…. books In the world of diy decorating, the milk crate is the staple …. Living Pavilion is a low-tech, low-impact installation that employs milk crates as the framework for growing planted surface similar to a green wall. These interventions treat sound as matter that can be readily sculpted— with the aid of acoustic treatments made from recycled and repurposed materials including clothing, wooden pallets and milk crates

11 identify key concepts from artifact to broad categories
It is possible that you won’t find an academic article or book that mentions your artifact To find resources related to the role or position of your artifact in society, identify relevant key words “milk crates” Broader keywords might include one or more of the following: recycle or green reuse or repurpose alternative diy or “do it yourself” combine with the keywords - culture or social or society or material culture

14 Discovery Search – Advanced search
Uncheck full text search if too many results

15 Databases | tools for identifying articles in journals
Interdisciplinary Databases Academic Search Complete – popular magazines & scholarly journals JSTOR – mostly scholarly, small selection of journals, but sometime latest years are not available Google Scholar Art & Design Databases – covers context of art, design and design history Art Full Text DAAI: Design & Applied Arts Index Design Research Guide has a list of other databases to consider NOTE: to access databases from home – need netname & password or connect to Concordia’s vpn
