Lives of the Scientists
The: what's, who's and why’s of 5 amazing scientists

1: Zhang Heng Nationality: Chinese Object of study: Astronomy and Earthquakes Distinct features: He was a very powerful person, because stars were associated with what would happen with people in power, and he watched those.

ACHIEVEMENT He invented the earthquake detector, and it worked extremely well. He charted 25,000 stars during his entire life. Yes, 25,000! X 25,000

2: Ibn Sina Nationality: Muslim Object of study: ALL KNOWN SCIENCES AT THE TIME Distinct features: He set out to master all the sciences. He avoided assassination by traveling along the Silk Road. He could also write on horseback, a pouch, anywhere!

ACHIEVEMENT We couldn’t get past him!
He memorised the Koran at age 10! Once, he saved a prince’s life and gained access to the Royal Library! He became a practicing doctor at 18 (VERY YOUNG FOR A DOCTOR). We couldn’t get past him!

3: Galileo Nationality: Italian Object of study: Astronomy Distinct features: He had bushy red hair and was put under house arrest for putting the words of a Pope in one of his book character’s mouth (note: this character was the fool of the story). He was a master insulter, and went blind during his last years.

ACHIEVEMENT He discovered four moons circling Jupiter, proving that Ptolemy’s theory (that all heavenly bodies circled the earth) was wrong. He never gave up and never stopped working until he died. NOO!! I’m ALONE!!!!

4: Isaac Newton Nationality: England Object of study: Physics Distinct features: He was alone, and never married. His family business was shearing sheep, but he left that path. The closest major road to his home was a WHOLE MILE AWAY!!!! Those who had known him for a long time said that they had only seen him laugh once.

Thank’s Newton! ACHIEVEMENT
He invented calculus, a new strand of math! He also discovered gravity, and made breakthroughs on how light worked with colors. When he was only 23, he laid down the groundwork for his 3 famous laws of motion. Thank’s Newton!

5: Charles Darwin Nationality: England Object of study: Biology Distinct features: Darwin was just like the perfect gentleman you would imagine. He was an obedient son, a loving brother, a devoted husband and father, and was strongly antiracist, and antislavery. His father was a well esteemed doctor who spent money wisely.

ACHIEVEMENT He once sailed to South America and brought back 2 tortoises as pets. He developed the theory of evolution and laid down the foundation for many biologists to this day. This evolution didn’t quite work…

HOPE YOU LEARNED! (He didn’t)

THE END You are dismissed. BIBLIOGRAPHY
