1 THE NEW TELCO

2 Topics Key trends The new/lean telco The Smart Home
The Telecom Namibia plans Over the top players (OTT’s)

3 Key trends towards 2020 The focus of operators – in terms of opportunities for growth – is shifting to the enterprise market (cloud services, m2m/iot) Consolidation in the telecoms–technology sector is inevitable. Operators’ visions around virtualized networks are starting to crystallize – convergence between IT and Networks. 5G is increasingly being seen as a network platform for IoT by 2020. LTE now accounts for more than 10% of the global subscriber base with 755 million subscribers at June 2015, with 441 million added over the last year and expected to be 1 billion by the end of this year. The relationships between OTT players and operators are becoming stronger.

4 Network is King Internet based Service Providers
Growth in Network Traffic Internet based Service Providers OTT ambivalent Broadband Connectivity Substantial Investments in capacity expansion Flat Rates (fixed) cannot finance the investments Downward pressure on earnings Powerfull end devices Operating systems Services Applications Profit margin Market Capitalization High Risk Text Messaging Voice

5 Infrastructure heavy asset
Network is King Challenges Strategic options Keys to success Mobile Traffic growth OTT Players Price competition Modern Network Concepts Integrated deployment of network capacities Focussed Innovation Enforced Partnering Empowering Wholesale Differentiated market approach Agile Processes & IT No Activity Infrastructure heavy asset Fixed

6 Innovative bonding Gateway Synergy FMC 2.0
Bonding Access Case Bonding STB HG Mobile Network DSLAM eNodeB xDSL BGW IP Core Internet Fixed LTE B Bonding fixed and mobile to improve HSI bandwidth; Traffic go through xDSL first to save the cost; Fast Deployment, Short ROI. Maximize the advantages of the existing network, enhance full service competitiveness; Hybrid Access Service growth Rapidly

7 $ The long sought-after goal of monetized traffic

8 The Smart Home reality is coming up soon
Security – Monitoring – Entertainment – Visual Communication - Automation HGW The cloud platform provides unified management of users and peripheral devices and sensors , while also connect all these devices and mobile APP. Base station, as the control center of smart home, uplinks to the Internet through Ethernet or Wi-Fi , downlinks to peripheral devices & sensors through RF433/Zigbee.
