United Way Grants Keys to Completing an Application Save work when leaving sections There are some questions that get pre-populated from other answers Must answer all required questions* Narrative sections have word limits Some fields are restricted (number only, # of digits, etc.) To submit– all sections must be100% complete, including: Yes/No questions – even if answer is “no” All required attachments Electronic assurance and signature

United Way Grants Community Response Grants - Overview Purpose: To support urgent, unexpected or emergency organizational needs Apply any time Indicate the specific jurisdiction Award range: up to $7,500 Two applications max; one award (per year, per jurisdiction) Target turnaround time for notification: 15 business days

United Way Grants Community Operating Grants - Overview Purpose: to support organizations and programs that are changing outcomes for low-income individuals and/or families (those at or below 300 percent of poverty) Apply once annually One application max per jurisdiction Must select primary focus area Award range: up to $30,000

30 Estimating Proportional Number Served by COG Grant
United Way Grants Estimating Proportional Number Served by COG Grant Program Expenses If requesting $25,000 and the total program budget is $100,000, then the request is 25% of total program cost. If request is 25% of total program cost, and program serves 200 individuals, then proportionately, the COG grant will support 50 individuals (200 x 0.25). Operating Expenses If requesting $25,000 and the total organizational budget is $250,000, then the request is 10% of total organizational budget. If request is 10% of the total organizational budget, and the organization will serve 300 families, then proportionately, the COG grant will support 30 families (300 x 0.10)
