1 “Running from Life: A Found Poem”
From William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying By: Jessica Tran

2 Running from Life The sun has gone down behind a bank of black cloud.
I can smell the life running up from under my hands. I run in the dust. I cannot see. It’s because I am alone. I don’t know how to worry, I don’t know how to cry. I tried, but I can’t. The agony and the despair of spreading bones waked with a black void rushing under me. I knew living was terrible, and that this was the answer to it. Sin and love and fear are just sounds. Sometimes I would lie in the slow silence. The reason for living is getting ready to stay dead.
