2 Increased Student Support in one to one sessions
What is it? – informing students of the types of things they can discuss at the sessions e.g. their overall grades, progression Why was it implemented and by whom? – PDs identified that most students were not aware of their overall grade and were not using the feedback they had received. Those involved and targets/affects? – All personal supervisors and students. Impact/ evidence ? - positive feedback from students, more students attending supervision meetings, rise in good degrees. Future plans? – awaiting recommendations from current working groups across the University.

3 Structured Monitoring of Student Retention to inform Practice
What is it? – monthly data shared with HoDs and PDs Why was it implemented and by whom? – Concerns over retention figures and AIS not suitable to analyse data. Those involved and targets/affects? – Fac Exec, all PDs to closely monitor data and discuss. Impact/ evidence ? - positive feedback from staff, clearly identifies retention across all programmes, retention increased and has Future plans? – continue to collate the data until AIS is replaced and hope to be able to use new system.

4 Timely Feedback What is it? – informing all students and staff that the turn around time is max 4 weeks. Informing students if there is an unavoidable delay. Why was it implemented and by whom? – FLTAC wanted to monitor feedback times as poor practice was identified from student feedback (NSS, Deans Focus groups, SSCs). Those involved and targets/affects? – All staff, any delays come to FLTAC to be recorded and monitored. Impact/ evidence ? - positive feedback from students, very few students received feedback late, staff look for solutions. Future plans? – continue to monitor, discuss with staff and students.

5 MARKING AND FEEDBACK USING GRADE MARK
What is it? – piloting the use of Grade Mark to mark student work and provide feedback at UoH and at five partners (Foundation Degree in Learning Support). Why was it implemented and by whom? – A partner college (Selby) was using Grade Mark effectively and suggested we adopt it throughout the Consortium. Those involved and targets/affects? – All staff working on the FD LS, including academic staff and professional services staff, with an end of year report requested by FLTAC prior to further use across the Faculty. Impact/ evidence ? - positive feedback from staff in terms of time saved on tasks such as uploading and downloading assignments from eBridge. Future plans? – continue to monitor, discuss with staff and students, consider extending to other programmes from September 2015.

6 EMPLOYABILITY AND CPD What is it? – engaging students in activities and discussion supporting their future careers and career development., for example, Employability Week and the NQT Conference. Why was it implemented and by whom? – Employability for students on programmes not linked to teacher training has been a regular discussion point in Dean’s Focus Groups. CPD for teachers is a key feature of our work with practicing teachers and especially recent graduates in their first (NQT) year in school. Those involved and targets/affects? – All students can benefit from Employability Week however the target group is UG. The NQT conference targets new teachers. Impact/ evidence ? - positive feedback from students and partner schools. Ongoing engagement of careers professionals with our students, supporting them towards employment / in their developing careers. Future plans? – embed aspects of Employability Week in the curriculum, work with HUBS on “World of Work” week. Continue to offer the NQT Conference on an annual basis.
