1 Co-location Services 08th October 2013 Veera Venkatesh Ch

2 What is Co-location Co-location refers to  the placement of several entities in a single location. A Co-location centre is a type of data centre where equipment, space, and bandwidth are available for rental to retail customers.

3 Why to Co-locate Co-location provides a very cost-effective means of accessing a secure hosting environment. Reduced cost of infrastructure Climate control air conditioning system High speed connections via multiple carriers to prevent downtime. Guaranteed power supply incorporating battery UPS for short term combined with an onsite diesel generator for extended outages. Client can deploy new machines within 24 hours and easily expand as required. All services are monitored by network engineers 24 x 7. Co-location facility uses electronic access security, Video surveillance & security guards to protect client equipment.

7 STPI Co-location Features
24×7 Helpdesk Management System STPI having 24×7 state of the art Network Operations Center (NOC) to continuously monitor the Colocation services and deliver the committed service availability of 99.5%. Features of Helpdesk Round the clock support Calls are handled directly by the engineers Single contact for all outage calls “Contact over mobile up to the Higher Management is available in case of emergency” Secured Network and Traffic monitoring with Whatsup Gold Network Management System (NMS) For the Internet traffic monitoring, PRTG server deployed at STPI, generates link utilization reports minute by minute which can be monitored online by customer. Monthly reports for the uptime for all customers is generated using the Fault Report Management System (FRMS). These monthly reports are sent to the customers on request. 7

8 STPI Co-location Features
Support and Troubleshooting Procedure Customer can log an outage call through telephone. As soon as the customer calls, a trouble ticket is generated by the FRMS and customer is given a Trouble Ticket No. and all his contacts are entered in this ticket by the shift engineer. After the ticket is generated, the shift engineer starts working on the trouble call based on the inputs provided by the customer. All efforts are made to resolve the problem. Once the problem is resolved, trouble ticket will be updated. After customer confirmation on the link status the ticket is closed and RFO will be sent to customer through mail. 8

9 STPI Co-location Features
Co-location server installation and activation Once Co-location server installed at STPI, Installation report will be prepared signed by customer and STPI, Intranet ID will be created in the name of Customer for registering any fault calls in future with customer information and activation mail will be sent to customer with the following details Circuit Details Network IP Details Online Bandwidth Monitoring tool Username and Password 24×7 Customer Care Contact Details STPI Escalation Matrix Activation Date Installation Report, Activation mail & Escalation chart furnished in next slides… 9

10 STPI Co-location Features
Installation Report of Colocation Server Installation report is in practice with co-located server information which includes Hardware details, application details and signed by Customer and STPI. 10

11 STPI Co-location Features
Activation Mail to Customer Activation mail will be sent to customer by Customer Helpdesk with circuit details and other important information. 11

12 STPI Co-location Features
STPI Escalation chart to Customer STPI is staffed 24 x 7 Hrs by Technical Staff for providing On-Line support to the Customer’s problems. They are also responsible for notification and escalations to the appropriate management personnel after a certain time frame as defined in Escalation chart. 12

13 STPI Co-location Features
Service Availability Ever since the start of operations, STPI has strived hard to maintain the committed quality of service and availability. Being a Class 'A’ Internet Service Provider (ISP), STPI is peering with Tier-1 Service Providers and Offers Carrier Neutral Service. STPI customers enjoy the benefits of a global backbone, high-performance network architecture and industry-leading peering arrangements, which together offer maximum uptime availability. The scalable STPI network can handle the heaviest traffic loads.

14 STPI Co-location Features
Power Distribution and Backup solutions STPI has redundant power management system with N+1 Backup UPS systems which will provide clean and un-interrupted power all the time. The Power Management System consists of 1+1 DG sets of 125 KVA and N + 1 world-class Merlin Gerin Electric (MGE) and Numeric UPS Modules with automatic static bypass / manually operated circuits. This configuration provides redundancy in electrical distribution, ensuring uninterrupted power 24/7/365 days

15 STPI Co-location Features
Precision Cooling with Climate controlled Air conditioning STPI has Precision air conditioning units to ensure that optimal temperature is maintained each and every corner of the facility. Temperature maintained at 18 degree Celsius ± 3% . Humidity level maintained at 50 ± 15% humidity. 15

16 STPI Co-location Features
Highly Sophisticated fire detection FM-200 gas based fire suppression system Protection Protection from fire is a critical concern for any business for which we have state-of-the-art fire detection FM200 fire suppression system. The system reach extinguishing levels in 10 seconds or less, stopping ordinary combustible, electrical, and flammable liquid fires before they cause significant damage. That's the fastest fire protection available period. When fire is extinguished this quickly, it means less damage, lower repair costs, and an extra margin of safety for people. It also means less downtime and disruption of business. 16

17 STPI Co-location Features
Rodent control systems The Rodent Repeller System consist of one controller with four transducers to create acoustic hostile environment under raised flooring. Rodent Controller system is a micro controller based electronic transmitter of high frequency (well above 20 KHz frequency) which is upper limit of hearing range of human ear. The acoustically hostile environment created by Digital ultrasonic rodent repeller system induces auditory stress in rodents there by forcing them to leave the area but they do not get killed.

18 STPI Co-location Features
Physical Security STPI is staffed with well trained security guards 24×7×365, providing on-site incidence management and protection to mission-critical internet operations. Visitors are screened upon entry to verify their identity and escorted to their appropriate locations. All access history is recorded.

19 STPI Co-location Features
Bio-metric Access Control Systems In addition to the presence of the security guards, the entries and exits of the facility are fitted with multi level access control devices. The main entrance is protected by a biometric access device, which maps & verifies the bone structure of a person's hand ensuring that only authorized personnel are allowed in. 19

20 STPI Co-location Features
CCTV Video Surveillance Our facilities are monitored and recorded using CCTV cameras, we also maintain a HDD based record of the videos in the event of unprecedented mishaps. 20
