So what’s with the new name?
Grant funders saw us as old fashioned and just providing infrastructure so didn’t want to invest Went through a review of why we existed and what difference we wanted to make to the local community across Glossopdale Went through an internal restructure and stopped doing some roles and looked at how we could reposition and reinvent ourselves Used our reserves to help transform Hard year maintaining Companions whilst and setting up new services

Investment brought together from Tameside and Glossop ICFT, Derbyshire County Council, DCLG Communities Fund, Big Lottery and Bureau reserves Four interdependent strands: Social Prescribing and Local Area Coordination Creating a new volunteering / community connection offer ABCD Community Development Grant funding and spot purchasing

The Market Place Need to know what services and activities are available for people to access Where there are repeated gaps locally we will use mix of infrastructure support, peer support and grant funding to set up new services Where we are significantly increasing demand on existing groups and services we will use grant funding to help build capacity Where there are particular one off barriers to helping people move on we have the option to spot purchase one off services

Super Volunteers Co-produce the ‘Super Volunteer’ offer with existing volunteers and partner organisations Short term and ad hoc roles that connect people in the local community Resource that works across community and primary care Volunteer Brokerage offer now through The Bureau Website Proactive role setting up and supporting others with community activities that bring people together

Challenges for Glossop’s VCS
Grant funding needs to address the following outcomes: Reduce repeat demand on GPs where the causes are due to social factors, rather than medical factors Reduce inappropriate referrals to ASC Speed up the rate of discharge from hospital Reduce unplanned hospital admissions Need a new language to describe what we do Need to understand our unit cost Need to track back to effective preventative interventions Need to promote what is already available in Glossop
