2 The Great Depression A painful time of global economic collapse, starting in 1929 and lasting until about 1939. The stock market crash is generally associated with the Great Depression, but it was not that simple.

4 The Great Depression A major cause of the depression was the mismanagement of finance in the United States. Finance was the management of money matters, including the circulation of money, loans, investments and banking.

5 The Dust Bowl Causes: Improper farming methods Drought Wind storms
An area, including parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and northern Texas where windstorms caused severe soil erosion in the 1930s. Causes: Improper farming methods Drought Wind storms Loosening of soil

6 Dust Bowl The region from which farmer migrated from.
The term Okie, was given to those who migrated to California in search of work.

7 New Deal A massive package of economic and social programs established by FDR to help Americans during the Great Depression.
