8 Graduation Requirements Class of 2020
In UPSD, students must earn 24 credits to graduate Each semester class passed = 0.5 credit Earn a “D” grade or better to pass Semester grades are the ones that count Credit Requirements 6 classes per semester 3.0 credits per semester 2 semesters each year 6.0 credits per year 4 years = 24 credits total Earn specific numbers of credits in specific subject areas (see next slide)

English – 4.0 credits Social Studies – 3.0 credits Science – 3.0 credits Math – 3.0 credits (including Algebra ¾ or equivalent) PE/Health – 1.5/0.5 credits Occupational/Tech Ed – 0.5/0.5 credit Fine Arts – 2.0 credits World Language – 2.0 credits Electives – 4.0 credits See High School Graduation Requirements on last page of CJH Course Catalog

10 Other Graduation Requirements Class of 2020
Pass the Smarter Balanced ELA and Math assessments (10th/11th Grade) Pass Biology EOC* Volunteer Service (5 hours in 9th Grade) High School and Beyond Plan (CHS) Washington State History (7th Grade in UPSD) *Please note that pending legislation may result in changes to graduation requirements for the class of 2020

11 College Prep Guidelines
4 years of Math Additional Science coursework (Chemistry or Physics) 3 years of the same World Language Enroll in Honors/AP courses Develop strong writing skills Join activities in school Join activities in our community

MARCH 9: Course Catalogs and BLUE Course Selection forms given to students MARCH 10: Parent Information Night MARCH 11: BLUE forms due to 3rd period teacher MARCH 14 – 18: students complete online registration through 3rd period class

17 Honors Courses Courses: English, Contemporary World Studies, and Science Application: All interested students must submit an application with registration forms. Testing: No special testing required Admission: Grades, GMRT and GMADE Notification by June 1 *New students will take required tests as part of enrollment process (GMRT and GMADE) **Please note that space is limited in Honors courses

March 11: BLUE forms due to 3rd period teacher March 14 – 18: Online registration during 3rd period class

21 Registration Timeline for New In-District Cougars
Enrollment and Registration Packets are available tonight at the registration table Enrollment Conferences scheduled in April This information is only for students who live in UP but do not currently attend CJHS

22 Registration Timeline for Out-of-District Students
Release of Attendance, Enrollment and Registration Packets are available tonight at the registration table Applications accepted after April 18th Notification by June 1 or sooner This information is only for students who live outside UPSD boundaries and wish to attend CJHS next year
