STRATEGIC POLICY LEVEL THE STATE OF TRANSPORT IN AFRICA Non-policy Marker Policy Marker Other Policy Makers Facilitate inter policy makers interaction Target policy markers The activities will be undertaken at the strategic policy level where focus will be to connect key non-policy actors along the value chain to policy makers and also facilitate inter-policy maker’s interactions; as well as at the operational level, where focus will be to actualize connections among non-policy actors. At the strategic level: connections will focus on policy makers. The aim will be to target policy makers in the ministries of agriculture, finance, environment and industrialization who are key to upscaling EBA and its value chains and link them with the other stakeholders on 3 levels: Link Policy-markers to Policy-markers Link Policy-markers to EBA initiatives Link Policy-markers to Academia/Research

LINKING POLICY-MAKERS TO POLICY-MAKERS POSTHARVEST LOSSES IN AFRICA At the strategic level: connections will focus on policy makers. The aim will be to target policy makers in the ministries of agriculture, finance, environment and industrialization who are key to upscaling EBA and its value chains and link them with the other stakeholders on 3 levels: 1.Link policy makers to policy makers: to ensure policy implementation, there is need to break silos between policy makers in these ministries. While the ministries of agriculture and environment should collaborate to ensure EBA driven agriculture techniques becomes part of mainstream agriculture approaches, the ministry of industrialization will be needed to ensure appropriate policies needed to facilitate the private sector for commercialization and value addition enterprises along the value chain are in place and the ministry of finance will be needed to ensure it prioritizes budget allocation for the programmes put in by the agriculture, environment, and industrialization ministries. LINK POLICY MAKERS TO ON-GOING ON-FARM EBA INITIATIVES AND VALUE ADDITION ENTERPRISES THE STATE OF TRANSPORT IN AFRICA 2. Link policy makers to on-going on-farm EBA initiatives and value addition enterprises. This will ensure these actors can engage with policy makers to actualize favorable policies that will enhance out-scaling / horizontal upscaling / more area under EBA techniques and value chain commercialization. Link these policy makers with academia and research and to international bodies to enable further enrichment of policies / policy making e.g. through adoption of latest research findings to inform policies and adoption of most effective, optimal approaches to policy making. LINKING REGISTERED FARMERS TO REGISTERED VALUE ADDED SERVICE PROVIDERS THE STATE OF TRANSPORT IN AFRICA Innovative Solar dryers for preservation This practically means linking registered farmers to registered value added service providers be they in technology such as innovative EBA techniques e.g. zai, innovative storage technologies, innovative preservation technologies; efficient irrigation technologies, innovative mobile based supply / demand market access technologies Linking farmers to value added services be it technology such as innovative EBA technique as Zai.

LINKING REGISTERED FARMERS TO REGISTERED MARKETS FOR FRESH PRODUCE THE STATE OF TRANSPORT IN AFRICA linking registered farmers to registered markets for fresh produce be they individual end users i.e. individual members of EBFOSA, corporates / institutional consumers i.e. institutions and businesses registered in EBAFOSA, resellers e.g. supermarkets, kiosks, shops and other retailers as well as wholesalers etc. all under the EBAFOSA platform Creating a supply chain with even other Business resellers who are registered members
