5 Xylem - Phloem Xylem: carries water through the plant, found at the inner part of a vascular bundle Phloem: carries phloem sap through the plant, found at the outer part of a vascular bundle

Number of xylem and phloem numerous (8 to many) Xylem vessels oval or rounded Pith large and well developed Number of xylem and phloem groups limited (2-6 or 8) Xylem vessels angular or polygonal (=vieleckig) Pith absent or very small
