4. Corn Seed
           
What did you observe with the seed corn?

5. Bean seed   
Guide student to carefully remove the seed coat from the bean seed and examine what you find. It is best to separate the two halves of the bean in order to examine it carefully. What did you observe with the seed bean?

6. Monocotyledon
Monocots have single cotyledons in their embryos i. e. rice, maize, and corn
Monocots have Pollens with single furrow or pore
Describe the two seeds and what are the differences? Monocots have single cotyledons in their embryos Monocots have flower parts in multiples of three

7. Dicotyledon Dicots have double cotyledons. i.e. peanut
Dicots have Pollens with three furrows or pores.
Based on your examination, Can you find the young leaves inside the seed? How many leaves are there? Dicots have flower parts in multiples of four or five.

8. The Structure of a seed The structure of a seed consists of:
Cotyledons - Food storage organs that function as first seed leaves.
Plumule - Embryo shoot.
Epicotyl - Stem above cotyledon.
Hypocotyl - Stem below attachment point.
Radicles - Stem tip developing into a root.
Using your graphic organizer-compare and contrast chart or Venn diagram, let write down the similarities and difference on the chart. After you have complete your written task, you should be able to use the digital camera to take picture or make illustration of the two seed and label the parts correctly.
