1 College Applications 101 General Information
Gather your information Having everything you’ll need in hand before you start your application means you won’t be searching for important information at the last minute. Make sure the information you provide is accurate because you may be asked to verify it at a later time. Apply broadly Applying to more than one college can significantly increase your chances of being admitted to a campus that will enable you to fulfill your educational goals. We recommend applying to campuses that vary in their admit rates. Also check for majors closed to Freshman. Pick an address and stick with it Campuses applicants to request or clarify information; they often need a quick response. Provide an address that you will check regularly. Update your spam filters to ensure that you receive all UC communications.

2 Everything you need to know about applying to the University of California
Nine campuses. One application. You may apply to as many UC undergraduate campuses as you like with just one application. Each of your chosen campuses will receive your application and official ACT/SAT test scores. $70/per campus $80/International Students Applying for a fee waiver. UC will waive application fees for up to four campuses for qualified students. If you're a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or meet basic criteria for AB 540, you can apply for a fee waiver within the application and find out immediately if you qualify. Fee waivers can't be applied to more than four campuses, regardless of their source (e.g. UC, College Board/SAT).

Follow directions. Answers to common questions appear on every page and under the "help" tab. If you can’t find an answer, contact the UC Application Center at or call (800) (toll free in the U.S.). Save your work. If you take a break from your application, sign out or click "Next" on any page to make sure your work is saved Review your summary. Look for any instance where the summary page says “not started” or “in progress.” If you didn’t intend to leave a question blank, click “Edit” to go back and answer it. Don’t forget to click “Submit your application for UC admission.” Your application won’t be sent to UC until you do. After submission, you will be taken to the receipt page, which shows your application ID. It's a good idea to print this page

5 Dates and Deadlines August 1 -Application opens for applicants for fall 2017. November 1-30-Filing period for fall 2017 admission application March 1-Notification of fall 2017 admission decisions begins. March 2- Deadline for applicants for all terms to submit FAFSA and Cal Grant GPA Verification Form.  March 31- Notification of fall 2017 admission decisions for freshman applicants is complete. May 1- Deadline to submit Student Intent to Register

6 Here is what you will need
UC Eligibility Report:  Refer to it as you fill out the application to ensure the academic information you enter is accurate. Test scores. If you're a freshman applicant, you'll have to include your scores from the ACT with Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test. (If you're applying for fall, be sure to complete these tests by December). All applicants should report scores for any SAT Subject Tests, Advanced Placement, TOEFL or IELTS exams they have taken.  Test Scores must be official. Be sure to have your ACT and SAT scores reported by the testing agency. If you have your official score report sent to one campus, it will be available to all campuses to which you applied.

7 More things you will need
Your Parents’ Annual income for last year and the current year. This is optional unless you're applying for an application fee waiver or for the Educational Opportunity Program. Social Security number, if you have one. They use this to match your application to things like your test score report, final transcript(s) and, if you're applying for financial aid, your Free Application for Federal Student Aid

8 And still more information
Citizenship status. You must enter your country of citizenship (or "No Selection"). If your country of citizenship is outside the United States, you'll need to provide your immigration status and your visa type. Credit card. If you prefer to pay by check, you can mail your payment.

10 Transcripts & letters of recommendation
Don't send official transcripts when you apply. If you're admitted to UC, then you must submit final transcripts to your campus admissions office. UC does not require (nor read) letters of recommendation at the time of application. A campus may ask for them later as part of a supplemental review, so be sure to check your .

11 . Print a copy of your application.
You'll want to keep a record of your application ID and a summary of your application for reference. Await the decision. Each UC campus will notify you of its admission decision, generally by March 31 if you're a fall freshman applicant   Submit transcripts, if admitted. If you are admitted to UC, you must have final transcripts sent to your campus admissions office.
