2 What is Destination ImagiNation?
Destination ImagiNation (DI) is an educational activity in which student teams solve open-ended Challenges and present their solutions at Tournaments. Our Impact 125,000 participants annually Colorado is 3rd largest with 900 teams 8 regions 38,000 volunteers

3 The DI Program Teams showcase their Challenge solutions in Tournaments: Teams first attend Regional Tournaments Boulder Regional Tournament is Saturday, March 16, at Monarch High Thank you for registering! Teams can advance to Affiliate (State) Tournaments First & second place per Challenge, per level CO State DI Tournament is April 13, at CU Denver Top teams advance from Affiliate Tournaments to the DI Global Finals at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville – Boulder took 7 teams last year!

6 Interference Safety is NEVER interference
Teaching skills the students ask to be taught is not interference Using Instant Challenge to teach building and performance skills is not interference Making sure the students understand the challenge is not interference No person (teacher, parent, friend, sales assistant) other than the team members may touch the materials used in the actual performance. That IS interference

8 A Word about Volunteers
First preference:  Each team would provide one parent to be trained as an Appraiser. Appraiser Training, Saturday, February 9, at Monarch K-8 Parent works another tournament in March Second preference:  Parent volunteer would be trained as an Appraiser and work at the Boulder tournament. Will try to accommodate the schedule Third preference:  The parent volunteer would help with the Boulder tournament 2- or 3-hour shift by helping with registration, sign-in, etc.

11 Working with Parents Provide a copy of Parent’s Guide from website Ensure parents understand interference Their most important job is ensuring that their team member comes to meetings Divide costs of materials Share responsibility for snacks, food, and transportation At tournament, create a list of appraised elements, so they can follow what their kids do
