4 Print Layout View vs. Print Preview
Print layout view shows the document as it would be printed as well as allow editing changes to be made to the document. Print Preview Can only view how document will look printed. Can’t edit document.

6 Adjust top and bottom margins by dragging on the vertical ruler.
Adjust margins by clicking on Page Layout and clicking on Margins Adjust left and right margins by dragging on the horizontal ruler. Page Margins Appears as a double-headed arrow when positioned over margin on Ruler.

13 Custom Page Margins Notice: All margins have a different setting.
Did you know that typically a 1.5” left margin is used when the document will be bound on the left side? The extra .5” allows for binding (or hole punches). Custom Page Margins

22 Paragraphs Enter Pressing Enter places a hard return in a document.
Only Enter to force a line ending (such as with address lines) or at the end of a paragraph. (A forced enter is commonly called a hard return.) Enter Pressing Enter places a hard return in a document. Soft return automatically wraps line endings. Paragraph symbols indicate hard returns.

Tab Page numbers aid in keeping keep printed pages in sequential order. Page numbers can be placed in various locations on a page—top, bottom, right, left, center, etc.

34 Can also insert Page Number from the Header and Footer Tools tab when editing a header or footer.

35 Header area The Header & Footer Tools command is activated from the Insert menu. To edit a header or footer in your document, just click in the header area or the footer area.

Typing area (document area) appears faded or grayed out when a header or footer is being edited. To type in typing area, just double click in it.

Standard Footer for Class Documents Remember to create a main folder to store all of your work. It should be named your last name, your first name and MSITA. Ex. Doe Jane MISTA Create a footer that shows both the filename and path. This is especially useful in class when multiple users are printing to a network printer. Insert Footer Edit Footer Click on Quick Parts Click on Field Press “F” to jump to Filename Place check beside Path Click OK
