What is Halal? And Why Halal? Islamic Rule: It means what ALLAH legislates for Muslims as per the Holy Qur’an, and the practices, (Sunnah) of honourable Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him). Ref. GSO , GAC FAD 12 Keeping it simple to understand, its safe for use or consumption. Religiously : allowed by sharia’h   , permitted   Sharia’h: Islamic law/Rules, Sunnah & Hadiths of Prophet Non- Halal: Not allowed by sharia , Not permitted . Not safe for use or consumption for the believers.

3 Scope of Halal (in terms of usage & consumption aspects).
Consumption: All edibles (food stuffs, medicinal, etc.) Usage: External application products (Non Food products e.g. cosmetics, personal care, Hospitality, Services, Travels, Financials & ..so on. HALAL covers all aspects of your life.

4 HALAL in Recent Years! Public and end user focus has been significantly about HALAL Food HOWEVER Awareness or concern about other aspects/scopes of HALAL is on the rise, mainly covering the followings: - Farming - Processing (Perishable animal, vegetable products and Products with long shelf life at room temperature) - Feed production - Food Service / Distribution/ Services/ Transport and storage - Cosmetic products - Chemical and Biochemical - Packaging and wrapping

5 Is HALAL only for Muslims?
HALAL is for all human beings  يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ كُلُوا مِمَّا فِي الْأَرْضِ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy. Because it is! Safe Healthy Quality wise pure & clean Beside all that it tastes the same as you eat normally 

HALAL products are: Accepted by non-Muslims who are aware with Muslim living, culture and have little Islamic knowledge e.g. in India. Accepted by minorities non-Muslims in Muslim countries. Accepted by non-Muslims e.g. in EU, US etc..

9 What is HALAL Accreditation?
Halal accreditation is a formal declaration by an accreditation body which testifies that a particular Halal Certifying Body is competent to certify Halalness of specific products or services. 3.1 accreditation third-party attestation related to a conformity assessment body conveying formal demonstration of its competence to carry out specific conformity assessment tasks (ISO/IEC 17011) A certificate from a third party that formally proves that a qualified evaluation body is competent to perform specific matching evaluation tasks. (GSO to 3)
