Role of the Development Committee
The Development Committee is key in the formulation and implementation of an advancement program for the School including the following specific responsibilities: Responsibilities 1. To work with the principal and committee members to set annual development goals. This includes: personal financial commitment and support active involvement in identifying, asking prospective donors making personal reminder calls on prospective donors thanking donors (phone/personal note) for their contributions to your School 2.

To educate the school community about the development program and respective roles in supporting the School by: reviewing and maintaining the short term (annual) and long term (3 year) development plan consolidating the school fundraising calendar maintaining knowledge of the different fundraising programs articulating program components to prospective donors 3. To strengthen your school’s development effort by regularly attending Development Committee meetings, providing insights and ideas, and helping to recruit volunteers to fill needed roles. 3.

Role – (Continued) 4. To review and recommend development policies for the Board’s consideration. 5. Participate as a volunteer or leader in one or more of the following subcommittees or activities: Possible Subcommittees of Development Committee 1) Annual Fund 2) Wills Seminar, Bulletin 3) Alumni Relations 4) Recruitment /Enrollment Management 5) Public Relations/Communications 4.

Responsibilities by Position
General Chair Attend five to seven meetings spanning a six week timeframe Help select three campaign leaders Participate with gift or pledge Pulpit Witness Speakers Speak during homily time at one or more Masses on one weekend Meet with counsel/volunteer to review talk outline and ideas for a 3-5 minute talk Practice the talk with counsel/volunteer in church Be willing to participate with gift or pledge support

Follow-Up Leader Attend two meetings and help recruit workers beginning with parish and school leadership… BEGIN WITH school board members, parish pastoral councils, and parish finance committees phone ensure workers are making calls before report date Participate with gift or pledge Follow-Up Worker 15 to 20 people needed Attend one meeting and make approximately reminder calls (NO ASKING FOR MONEY) 13.

Communications/Public Relations Leader 1 to 2 people needed Write the weekly bulletin/pulpit messages Write the weekly Prayers of the Faithful Oversee frequent Updates to web site, social media Participate with a gift or pledge Mailing Committee 2 to 4 people needed Approximately six hours to coordinate two mailings in-house and initial thank you mailing Participate with a gift of pledge 14.

Commitment Weekend Volunteer 1-5 people needed to recruit students or others as ushers Attend at least one Mass plus one hour to coordinate with ushers, provide orientation and distribute materials such as gift envelopes Assist in the recruitment of students and others to serve as ushers during Mass Assist volunteers in depositing envelopes at designated location after envelopes are collected Make sure materials are restocked and available for next Mass Participate with pledge or gift 15.
