Be Safe In the Classroom Outside the Classroom
What does it look like? What does it sound like? Keep your hands, feet, objects and unkind words to yourself Keep attractive nuisances at home Push your chair in when you stand up Let adults know when there is a problem- Are you trying to keep someone safe or get someone in trouble? What does it look like? What does it sound like? Take care of school property Put playground equipment away Clean up after yourself Line up when the bell rings Other examples???? What does it look like? What does it sound like? Put forth your best effort in all you do Take care of your things Finish you work on time Help others Other examples????

Make Good Choices For the following examples, show your teacher a thumbs up if the situation is a good choice, or a thumbs down if the situation is not a good choice.

Make Good Choices Walking on rocks or running through or playing in the bushes by the rocks. That’s correct, thumbs down- not a good choice Share with your partner or teacher why it is not a good choice. Running on the rocks is NOT a SAFE playground choice

Make Good Choices When the bell rings at the end of recess or lunch, stop playing, put equipment away and line up at your dot. Correct, thumbs up- this is a good choice. Share with your partner or teacher why it is a good choice. Stopping play when the bell rings is a good choice because you are being RESPONSIBLE.

Make Good Choices 3. When using the restroom, give another student in the restroom privacy. Correct, thumbs up- this is a good choice. Share with your partner or teacher why it is a good choice. Giving other students privacy in the restroom is a good choice because you are being RESPECTFUL.

Make Good Choices 4. When eating a snack or lunch, dropping wrapper on ground or leaving lunch tray on the table. That’s correct, thumbs down- not a good choice Share with your partner or teacher why it is not a good choice. Leaving trash at the lunch tables and not picking up after yourself is NOT a RESPNSIBLE or RESPECTFUL choice

Make Good Choices With your partner, brainstorm 3 examples of good choices you can make today on the playground or in the lunch area. Share 1 example with your teacher or another student.

Video While watching the video, think about what the students are trying to help the teacher understand? After watching the video, explain to your partner what the teacher learned from the students.
