1 Forests in the world and in Europe

2 Polish forest resources Europe against the world
against Europe and Europe against the world

3 Within two last decades the sum of all forest cover in the World have been reduced by about thousands hectares (0,34 % of all forest cover in the World). At the same time  the forest cover of Poland increased from 27,8% to 29,2%.

4 The forest area in Poland is 0
The forest area in Poland is 0.23% of the world's forests and about 6% of the forest area of the European Union. While the timber resources of the country (2.3 billion m³) represent 9.5% of the forests in the EU, which gives Poland 4th place among these countries. European Union countries with the surface of the forest about 157 million hectares constitute about 4% of the world's forests. The countries with the largest forest area (as a percentage of total forest area of the world are: Russia (20%), Brazil (13%), Canada (8%), USA (7%) and China (5%).

5 Polish forest cover amounting to 30
Polish forest cover amounting to 30.5% (relative to land area) is similar to the average forest cover of the world (31%). The forestation of our country is also close to the forest cover in Europe (excluding Russia) of 32.2%. It is however significantly lower than the forest cover South America (49%), Europe together with Russia (45%), South Asia and South-Eastern Europe (35%) and Central America (38%). Polish Forest cover is, however, much higher than the forest cover of the whole of Africa (23%), Asia (19%) and Oceania (23%).

7 Timber harvesting Annual timber harvesting in the world is a total of about thousand. m³ of merchantable timber without bark. From the overall harvesting on different continents falls Asia %, Africa %, Europe with Russia %, North and Central America %, and South America % and Oceania - 2.0%.

8 With the world's harvested wood for energy / fuel is spent around 55%, with the largest share of this wood is observed in Africa - 89% and Asia - 76%, and Central America - 93%. This participation in the more developed regions is, however, much lower amounts: in North America, 15% in Europe and 23% in Oceania and South America 52%.

9 In the last two 10 years of total forest area of the world decreased by about thousand ha, 0.34%. In Poland, there has been an increase in forest area of thousand. ha. Increased estimated at about 190 thousand. ha - an area of land related to forest management to thousand. ha in ie. 445 thousand. ha and, therefore, by 5.0% (0.5% annually); It occurred in this period, the increase in forest cover from 27.8% to 29.2%.

10 Regions with the largest forest area per capita 1 include: Oceania (5
Regions with the largest forest area per capita 1 include: Oceania (5.48 ha), South America (2.25 ha), North America (1.50 ha) and Europe (including Russia) ha. The least forest area per 1 inhabitant in Asia (0.15 ha) and the Caribbean (0.17 ha). On the other hand, in Africa on 1 inhabitant is an average of 0.68 ha of forest.

12 Polish forest resources against the resources of Europe
In Europe, the largest forest area in the Russian Federation; it is about 809 million hectares, which represents 79% of the total forest area in Europe. In Europe, the forest area in the period of 20 years from 1990 to 2010 increased by 1.6%. In Europe (excluding Russia) growth in the 20-year period was 8.3%. The greatest abundance of forests is characterized by the Europe Central and Western (227 m³ / ha) and Central and Eastern Europe (217m³ / ha), and the lowest, South-Western (81m³ / ha) and Russia (101m³ / ha). The average wealth of forests in Europe (excluding Russia) - amounting to 155m³ / ha - is similar to the average abundance in the forests of EU countries (154 m³ / ha). In Poland, the average wealth of forests is higher, at 254 m³ / ha (including land related to forest management).
